Dirty Rain

So I wash my car the other day and last night a rain storm blew threw and this morning when I go out to my car it is covered with dried dirty rain drops! I never seen anything like it, it was as if the rain water came down dirty and only spritzed the car for a second then stopped. Absolutely the entire car is covered with dried dirty rain drops!

No, it was not under a tree or light pole or anything!

The dust in the air gets trapped in the rain drops and then dries leaving the dust behind;it's a cruel cycle.

Yeah, I figured it must have been dust in the air that got picked up by the rain drops -- I've just never seen anything like it before in my life! Sure, I've seen it a little dirty, but this was DIRTY and precisely confined to the shape of the dried rain drops.

It's fantastically artistic isn't it!

Just wait till you have so much sealant and wax applied that when a bird poops on your car it beads up!

Here in the desert it happens when it rains or sprinkles. There will be a fine layer of unseen dust on the car and when it sprinkles the water and dust bead up if your car has any wax on it then it dries into thousands of dust spots. If I think a sprinkle shower is possible I will "california car duster" my car to minimize this.

I forgot to mention that in addition to the complete covering of the dirty rain drops I had a huge bird-turd on my windshield. So, when I got in my car to drive to work this morning I could hardly see out the windshield AND I couldn't use the wipers and washers to clean it of for fear that all that dirt would scratch the windshield.

I just got back from lunch and I sprayed my car off at the local car wash. Not a full on job mind you as it's expected to rain this afternoon, but I just had to get that crap off my car...

Dust storms carry tons of dust into the air. That air could easily get carried hundreds/thousands of miles and bang into a raincloud and thus you have dirty rain.

Raindrops form around microscopic pieces of debris in the air (dirt, dust, etc.) So all raindrops will leave a dirty residue if they dry on your car.

And sometimes those particulates adhere to the paint thus a claybar job is a good idea once a year.
