Thanks! Please PM or send e-mail to: kjw86ca@msn.com

Well every single post I have read on here says that milage is on the cluster itself. Where are you getting your information from? Even on eBay every one that is posted says "0 Miles!" or "54K miles!"

Is it not true that the milage is on the cluster?

Also, I have not had any leads on clusters from the sites posted...one has none w/ a tach, and the other has none at all. [???:)] So if anyone knows anyone who is selling one, please let me know.

I have heard the same Kyle...

We need someone to verify this.

look on the back of the cluster,,,,its just a plug...the odometer is just like a tv,,the computer sends info to it.....it dont have a battery....so how can it store the milage? milage is stored in the computer

Have you actually verified this or are you just speculating? I honestly do not know "for sure" as I have never done it. Let me do a search here on the forum and see what we come up with:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63935

the actual mileage of each car was on the cluster itself and not stored on the car

Heres another:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90994&highlight=cluster+miles

i did the mod just two weeks ago and it retains the miles on the cluster not the computer

And another:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68466&highlight=cluster+miles

i did a cluster swap on my spi and its a uber simple. sorry, no the info does not carry over. you want the new cluster to have mileage somewhere near yours. if you want it to be exact, you have to take it to a certified programmer to program it

One more:

No, this information is not carried over.. it is stored on the cluster

The miles are stored in the cluster. I know 100% at least on 06 cause I did the exact same thing your doing.

I got mine from car-parts.com

It had about 2000 more miles than mine did, so I just waited it out until they matched (within 20 miles at least) and then swapped them out. Probably my favorite mod on my car even tho it should have been there to start with. [driving]

Okay so it has been confirmed many times that the milage is retained within the cluster.

Brandon. I would suggest that in the future when someone asks for facts, give them facts and not what you "think". You could have screwed Kyle over has he purchased a cluster with the incorrect milage.

well after i posted that i looked into it also...and as far as i can see the milage does stay with the cluster,,,,my fault....i just did not understand how the cluster would keep the milage unpluged....i work on alot of different vehicles and ive never seen one do that...thats where i got the idea from....u dont have to get smitty with people either..so im wrong...big deal,,atleast i admit it,,i never said that i know for a "fact" now did i?? i was just assumeing sense ive seen it done in alot of other cars

Well here is an update:

I called a place from car-part.com Route 51 Auto and Truck Parts 888-771-4646 in case anyone wants to call and [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] that guy up, what a jerk. Anyway, I call and tell him what I need and he says..."Well it says here that it wont fit your car." and I was like, well "I've searched online and everywhere, including eBay motors, and the Focus forums say that interchange is 2000-2004 and 2005-2006." He says "NO, it wont work." I said "Okay, well I would like to buy part number 5126 from car-part.com" he said "Well, how about this? I'm not selling it to you." I told him I was not being rude to him, why was he acting like that? And he just was like "It's my business." and I said "Well, that doesn't seem like the right way to do business." and I just hung up. What a jerk, dude.

Also, every place that I have called so far says I need an ID number off my cluster to see if it matches up. Is this true? It's getting really frustrating.
