Just saw this on BBC's site: Hammond is in critical condition after crashing a jet-powered car for Top Gear. If there is any justice left in this world he'll be OK.

this really is horrible to hear because the bickering between him and clarkson is half the reason that i watch the show.

Richard and his family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. I hope he recovers from his injuries and is able to continue pursuing his passion for all things fun and exciting.

I just read on another site that James May had a conversation with him and is confident that he is still the same old Hammond. Jeremy Clarkson also spoke to him and insulted his driving skills, to which Richard smiled. His condition is now "stable" and everyone seems to be optimistic that he will make a full or near-full recovery.

James May even said that he didn't appear to have any major external injuries aside from a black eye. Hopefully the repored brain injury will heal without any major repercussions.
