What intake is this? found it on FJ and it is sweet, hope they make one for the SVT if it isnt custom made

Looks like a Volant with some sort of intake scoop.

Just wrote a lenghty email to Volant asking them when and if they are making an svt intake and if they are to pleeeeaassseeee include a ram air scoop like that hehe, worth a shot since they make scoops for the trucks

if I had that scoop I would put a sheet of plastic or metal behind the grill to direct the air into the scoop, that would be one nice setup

I don't think Volant makes that scoop. If they do, it's not an option on their website.

It looks nice, I also like the Volant intake setup. Would be nice to see Volant come out with an intake for the SVTF. That would be a intake I would be very interested in, even more with a scoop like that available for it.

i told them if they made one every svt owner would buy it over any other intake specailly if it had the scoop.....if they were smart they would make one asap if they already aren't...I'll post when they send me a reply /crosses fingers

Get ready for some magic! Its the volant accessory scoop, they made a few and showed them at least years SEMA show. Here is part of the print advertisement they had for it. Why its not out bewilders me b/c for awhile everyone one earth wanted one.

Yes Please...where do I get it, and who do I have to beat to get it. That really improves the overall appearance and would imagine performance. That just looks nice.

any extra source of cool air is worth it imo, specially from the front of the hood area, at least it is a direct path to the airbox, not like the ones that hook up under the car and the air has to travel up a tube

its an addition but he cut the top off of it so you could see the filter since whoever makes the filter is also a sponsor of his. So I guess it must fit over the opening in the top of the volant intake

Nice to hear that Volant is finally making one for the SVTF.

I bet when they do release it that it will sell like hot cakes, but the only thing that I am wondering, getting to the battery would be a pain in the @$$, but I might be missing something just looking at the pictures...

Well, it was introduced in 2002 and it does have a Volant PN#.
Hopefully, it just sits on the battery and can be easily removed.

You would think that it would be available by now but I guess sometimes progress takes time.

I'm going to PM madperformance just to see if he can get it when they are available since he stock's Volant intakes.

This looks like an intake worth saving your pennies for!!

Spoke with Volant today, they do make this item, and any of their dealers can get it and sell it, the rep told me to expect the price to be between 125-187.50 depending on shipping costs and what not to the dealers. He also said it works best if there is a hoodliner since the scoop sits very close and can sometimes rattle, though he said it was designed not to be a major problem. He also said that it is removed fairly easily for access to the battery.

It looks like a good investment to me, if I could run one I would have done purchased that setup. I've heard and read nothing but good things about Volant. Would be nice to see a similar setup for the SVTF from Volant. I can wait a few months. [;)]

There is the Volant air box, as well as a scoop with the 39420c part number, but it is not the same scoop as shown in the picture at the beginning. Back to hunting. I e-mailed Volant with the description of a tube that goes near the edge of the hood; hope they don't send me info on the scoop above.

I'm on this guys and I contacted one of my suppliers to see if he can get it....only thing is, neither of us have this part# on any of our "line cards".....i'll keep you guys updated.

the picture of the scoop they show if for their dodge/chevy truck intake scoop, they probly just didnt have a picture of the focus scoop to put up so they used a "generic" scoop image of their products to give an idea of what they mean....why I have no clue the Focus one is about a million times sweeter than the one for the trucks hehe

I'm not sure they list it yet on the "line cards", they don't list it as an accessory on their site either. As for l88m statement, the picture they are showing is just an illustration, thats actually the picture of one for one of their truck kits. The only difference between the picture in the first post of this thread and the actual thing is the clear window, that is not part of the kit. But if they have it at that site...I may just have to get it [:)]

Well, I called AJ-USA, and they only have the small snorkel, which collects air from near the radiator; they don't have the over-the-battery scoop (damn). We'll see what Volant has to say to me. I'll keep everyone posted.

$125 with free shipping isnt bad for a kickass scoop like that, nice piece imo

That sounds to me like the SVT snorkle or the same snorkle we already have...The part number listed is indeed the large snorkle from the description I recieved from Volant.

Supplier just called me back...Volant told him that these are available for retail and for purchase. I told him to call him back and double check this to make sure since we are getting different replies from Volant....I'll keep you guys updated.

The guy did tell my supplier that they could ship them out to us within a week....we'll see.

Volant says these are ready for production they are just waiting for the initial orders. ETA once initial order is recieved is 2 weeks.

Personally I will tell you guys 3 weeks just to play it safe and not get myself in trouble with a customer service issue.

Either way its a nice setup. I thought I read the clear piece was a custom fabrication done to show off the filter that happen to be a sponsor for that guy also. If the SVTF kit comes the same way as the pictured Volant clear plate and all, sign me up I'll pay now. Heck, combo a similar setup Volant for the SVTF, with maybe a 70 mm throttle body. have to wait till someone gets one and dyno's it to see if it helps any, but with some extra direct cold air it cant hurt. plus when I get one I am darn sure gonna do the plexi-glass piece on top, that is just sweet

What kind of performance difference are we talkin' here? I see "Produces an additional 15 hp" in the pic, but is that talking about this scoop or something else? What can I expect to see for my $136?

I'm guessing they're talking about the entire Volant CAI/Scoop combo.
We don't see the entire ad so it's hard to tell if they are saying your gonna get an additional 15hp from the scoop or that filter(LOL) or something else in the ad.?

I don't think you would get that much hp gains from a hood with a scoop feeding your Volant directly....would it.?....

I doubt it would be 15hp, but I bet the increased throttle response is nice and noticable

I'd imagine you'd see 2-4whp when you get into the mid RPM range, or higher speed so you get some better flow. But when you take into account that, that is about how much HP you get from a catback, or from most other bolt ons, it's actually cheaper hp/dollar.

Since the scoop relys on speed, wouldn't it be hard to get any dyno numbers with it?

yup, you probably wouldn't see any difference on a dyno, just like you wouldn't see any difference on a dyno with a ram air hood, I guess the best way to determine its effectiveness would be to see some 1/4 mile numbers with and without. There is no doubt in my mind that it WOULD give you some performance increase, just like saying that the ram air hood would, but how do you gauge something in this type of a setting.

or you could go to a place that has one of those dyno fans that blow air to see what the airflow increases you numbers by.....
