Well I finally got my 2007 pitch black ses 4 door today. I saw it on the car lot and just gave it a quick look over and I knew right away it was the car for me. well after I traded in my 03 ranger and gave the salesman $6000 cash I was told it had a paint chip on the rear bumper. No trouble we will make an appointment for you to bring it in the body shop and we will give you a loaner car. Well I say ok and out comes my car from the prep guy's with not only the paint chip on the bumper but they stuck a big crome plastic Chapman Ford emblem on the rear and screwed a Chapman Ford plate on the front bumper. when I took the plate off there are two big white holes popping out of the bumper from the big self tapping screws. When I got in the car it had 4 miles on it by the time it had 10 my check engin light came on. I took it back to leave it for service and the salesman said sorry but because of labor day we can't give you a loner car so I have to bring it in tuesday morning for service.
I hope this isn't an omen of things to come!

....wow.... your karma must be low or something, cut anybody off on the way to the dealership?
Seriously though, they just made a load of money off your purchase and trade-in, they have good reason to stand behind the car and fix it up for you; the loaner bit is a low blow tho.
I havent heard a whole lot of bad rap on the newer Focii in general, this SHOULDN'T be an indicator of the car in the future.
Best of luck!

I'm hoping the car is just evil, and is playing a joke on you.
keep your head up though, my car had a few teething issues when i first had it, (2006 ST), but it all sorted itself out.

Any company can make great cars, and any company can make a bad one too. The new Focis have great reliability ratings. I haven't had a CEL problem yet, but I do need to take mine in for an odd drivetrain shimmy. I don't think it's any indication of other Foci's though.
I hope not for yours. Best of luck!!
[welcome] to FF!!!

Well I got my car back today the reason for the check engin light was a pinched wire. Thank God it wasn't something major.

Glad it worked out. Sounds like the car is just fine, the dealer ship however sounds to have damaged it in the lot, i.e. the paint chip....thats messed up they drilled holes into it though.

Gary, welcome.. I live in Northeast Philly also, and used to have a Mercury Mountaineer. Chapman are such AHoles, i almost fought one of the team leaders one day for cursing out my mother..so what did i do..refused to by from them anymore.. my father got a new mountaineer, i got a focus in 2003..both purchased from McCafferty Ford in Langhorne. I drove the extra half hour just not to give those idiots my business..hope u dont have anymore issues with them.
And just FYI.... if you look around pretty much every dealer in our area puts the dealer plates on the front..i know mine had a MCCafferty one on there..and it pissed me off, because PA dont require front plates!! but they didnt do it just to mess with ya, its all over man.
Good luck with the car..join a Philly g2g soon, we might have one coming up.

i jus bought my 07 pitch black ses hatch with a small dent on the hood and the dealer told me the same thing to bring it in and get a loaner. all these dealer horror stories make me think twice though... idk

Just tell the dealership not to put any decals/plates on your car. They should listen and not do it.
I got my car from Faulkner Ford in Souderton, PA and when my mom went to pick it up she noticed an outwards dent on the center of the hood, the salesman noticed it and told me to bring it in the next week to get fixed. They also gave me gas money for the trip. Turns out when they were giving the car its final cleaning, one of the guys left something on the valve cover and dropped the hood...
