What do you guys think about this car??? I know it a "Jetta" but it is a nice car, has about 81,000 miles on it and I think it is a 2001... it's a friends and he is selling it for like 6900 bucks... Do you guys think it is worth it??? It has some good pick up and the only bad thing about it is it is auto... here is a pic.

I just relized... my camera phone is pretty good... [:p]

Better than the other camera phone pics I've seen on this list [:)]
The car? I wouldn't be thrilled about the auto, but for a daily driver I think the car would be pretty good...

Boring, its an auto, high mileage, pricy. Nop, get another Focus :-)
08-30-2006, 08:14 PM
Well, the only thing I have found was quite a bit pricey for a Focus... I won't sette for a Zetec, I have to have a 2.3 and the only cheaper used ones I have found was late 2003-2004 and they all are asking like 9000 grand and up... this thing has everything but heated leather seats. And the Focus's I have found were just lightly optioned.

I'm not a chick and I know it's a chick car but it's a nicer car and it's reliable thats why I was looking at it.

the 2.0 coupled with the automatic makes for a very slow car. also, they dont handle that well compared to a focus and you sit even higher up than in a focus which i really cant stand.
08-30-2006, 10:56 PM
No way... the ST is lowered about 1.8 inches all the around and the Jetta is stock and the Focus is about as high and I sit about as high as the driver in the ST... [thumb]

talking about the drivers seat. i am short (5'8") and i feel like my head is almost touching the ceiling when i drive my sister's jetta. feels very school bussy.

I dunno but I am 5'10" and I am fine in that car.

2002 GLS Manual 2.0L 68K miles less money...
2003 Jetta 1.8T Auto 37K miles for $6500
2 very quick examples of what you can get for your money on Jettas in the San Diego area...

If you really want a jetta, get a GLS......or at worst a 1.8T at least then there is the option of making it a little quicker..
and i think the GLS' are nice!

im gona say no and thats because the wife has one and it sucks always has problems and the ECU is malfunctioning and that needs to be replaced and that cost 4 grand. then the car wont come out of drive half the time u have to beat the [:)][:)][:)][:)] out of the brake to get it to realease. i hate that car. there are 4 people at work with the same car ahs hers and they all have problems with theres to some the same some doffernt but none of us like it

I used to have an '02 Jetta with a manual tranny. Fun car, but I like my '05 ZX3 better. The Jetta's interior was way nicer, but the Focus is more fun to drive. In terms of reliability, these Jettas are notorious for their electrical gremlins. My Jetta just wouldn't start sometimes and the radio just stopped working for a few months. Also, I don't know how you feel about transmissions, but I wouldn't consider an auto.

Most US destination Jettas are made in Brazil. Look for the first # on the Vin 3 or 4= Brazil, G= Germany.
If it was a diesel I'd say get it. Those have tremendous resale right now, and if you could get one from someone before they advertised it you could keep it and save fuel costs or sell it and make a quick profit.
The US market is the "whipping boy" for auto manufacturers. For example, in the mid 90's VW designed a faulty head for the 2.0. After enough German cars were coming in before warranty with cracked heads the engineers re-designed the head. All the previously produced heads were sent to Brazil, and the warranty periods on US VW's were reduced. Before you get mad at VW- domestic makers do the same thing to us. To be fair, I think all those heads were used up by the turn of the millenium.
No matter how bad a car is in reviews, any car could be a good car. Look carefully at the particular car and it's service record. On the flip side, no matter how good a car is- any company can make a lemon too.
I hope this helped [thumb]

I would say stay away. When I was shopping for a car I was checking out Jettas... all in my price range were+76000 miles. The reason? That's when VW's start falling apart. That's when people start getting rid of them. My boss told me all he has owned are VW's, and it's almost uncanny that around 75K they start needing things replaced, and it's one thing after another...
That's just what I've found though...[dunno]
