i changed my oil last night, like i always do, i got a new kind of filter(mobil 1) and started using synthetic, i tighten my filter down , make sure theres no leaks. go to bed. wake up go out to my car, check for leaks again, nothing. start car, oil starts spraying everywhere from the filter. wtf !!!!!! i look at the seal and its like pushed out. i have 5 dollars right now. what am i supposed to do ??????

It sounds like perhaps the oil ring at the top of the old filter stuck to the mating surface on the engine, rather than coming off with the old filter. Remove your filter and make sure you only have one "rubber" sealing ring between the filter top and the mating surface. If you have two, remove and toss the one from the old filter that stuck to the engine.
P.S. To help avoid this in the future, if this is the problem, always smear a thin coating of engine oil on the gasket surface of the new filter before installing it.

yeah, i'm a [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]g retard. son of a bitch. i forgot to check if the old seal came off with the old filter. god i'm stupid. if i push the new seal back into the new filter, will it still be usable??

Yeah it should. Just make sure that the seal is snug on the filter and put a small film coating on it before reinstalling it to the engine.

It should work but I wouldn't trust it. Borrow 10 bucks from a friend and get a new one. Sucks that problems always happen when people have no money :(

i'm borrowing money to get oil b/c ALL of the oil came out. there goes 30 bucks...

"i forgot to check if the old seal came off with the old filter. god i'm stupid."
Uh, don't ask me how I knew that was the likely problem.
Stuff happens to everyone, don't kick yourself.

Then you might as well get an extra 5 or so bucks for a new filter, so you know it will seal up fine.

Well, as others have said, the best thing to do is to just buy a new filter.
That said, if it was me, I'd probably just inspect the rubber sealing ring for damage, and if it looked OK I would clean it with alcohol and a paper towel, and also clean-off the top of the filter, where it "sits," with a bit of alcohol. I would then push it back onto the filter, making sure it seated properly "inside the pinches" that typically restrain the ring during installation. Then I would go ahead and reuse it, making sure to put a thin smear of oil onto the top of the seal that mates with the engine.
The fact that the seal can stick to the engine surface, rather than the filter, when removed shows that the sealing ring is not attached to the the filter that strongly to start with.
But, if you really want to be 100.000% sure, a new filter is the answer.

You should be able to reuse that new one just fine.

"Mobil 1 oil cost me $4.49 a quart at my local Walmart"
Yeah, but Wal Mart is infamous for charging whatever the market will bear, depending upon the competion, i.e., prices depend upon which Wal Mart you use. Mobil 1 oil at the Wal Mart 1/2 mile from my house costs $4.89, the same as the Target store right across the street. The Wal Mart three miles away in the other direction, which doesn't have a competitive store near it, charges $5.28 for the same oil. And in a smaller town 27 miles away with no other "Big Box" store for miles around, the price is $5.95.

At least yours leaked in the driveway, when the same thing happened to me years ago it waited until I was on the highway to blow... had enough backup oil with me in the car to make it home, cleaned everything up and reinstalled the same filter with no problem...
