Tom, If you had to choose a supercharger work with, which one would it be. Personlly I was looking at the FS/VF charger, but after looking at the dyno sheet, i was thinking im almost making almost the same numbers N/A. Procharger dont seem very difficult to install, unlike vortech. and it put up some good numbers.

I suppose to be saving for a wedding, but she pushing it back for some years. ill put the money to good use.

I cant speak for Tom, but i do know that he likes the Prochargers. I honestly dont think, for the money, theres a better option than the Procharger. Most anyone that has minimal mechanical knowledge and basic hand tools, can install it in an afternoon.

ive been searching for pictures...never seen one install in a focus

b16 i see you have a procharger, what kinds of 1/4 mile times do you get? back on topic: i too have heard nothing but good things about the procharger setup. that is what i am most likely going to get after a year of reading posts about all the others.

NOOOOO! ! ! ! In my opinion the fs/vf SC is the worst SC on the market by far. The ProCharger is the way to go

More of a problem then 9.5 but nothing a SC and a good tune couldnt handle , with SC you want more compression then with a Turbo in my opinion

Heres a link:

Utahsvt has my Procharger now though. Street applications with slightly higher compression with a Procharger does work better like Tom said. It helps with the torque where the turbos have the advantage.

I've read that the FMIC sits a little low, but other than that it should be fine.

I'd get the Procharger or Vortech unit myself - the Powerworks is way too expensive!

I love my Vortech and have yet to see a Procharger make the same #s (track time wise).

what numbers you up putting up?

On a SVT or ST170, basically stock, you would see appx +/- 260hp at the tires and appx. 220torque at 10lbs.

B16, what made you change out your SC????

I am getting into auto-x and the power of the Procharger and the way the power comes on would have been crazy on an auto-x course. I sold it and did some engine work to get a bit more all motor for auto-x. It wouldnt be as bad now that the Torsen's are out but its done now. I have thought of going back and just using an 8lb kit. Anymore than that i think would be kind of crazy on a course. PM me about your vacation...........

i sould be putting up crazy numbers then. i was beating SVTF's when i had the stock exhaust manifold. to optimize the power should i change the udp? anything else i can do??

1turbofocus

NOOOOOO! ! ! No UDP , If you want that you will have to install it later and i wouldnt recomend it either

Tom

Yes its going to be later, but its going to happen. why dont you recomend it? just curious

UDP + SC = Lower boost. You'd want a CFM 5.7" Crank to UP the boost...UDP slows down accesories...ie; slows down a SC...ie; less rpms = less boost.

do you need to upgrade the stock fuel pump?

SuperFocusMan
07-30-2006, 02:12 PM
I dont know how true this is. but I heard that the stock zx3 zetec fuel system will handle
approx 300 hp

venomfocus
07-31-2006, 12:50 AM
or get a boot-a-pump...something like that

The stock pump in good condition will get you to 300

Just curious as to why that is? cuz of the super heated air coming in from the inlet pipe that runs almost on top of the valve cover, weird bump in inlet tube after sc or something else?

1turbofocus
08-08-2006, 05:00 PM
Yes the layout of the piping adds to the problem , any time you suck in 160 to 200 deg air into a SC it does not take much to get it to 244 , 244 is the most IAT that the Focus can read it would be interesting to see how high it realy goes

There has been a few record 244 and loose there engines with this much IAT the ECU pulls so much timing to keep it from Spk Knocking that there is to little timing and it causes a very high EGT and kills the engine

Tom is the procharger intercooler big enough for that high compression ratio?

Frush was telling me that the PW is beter than the PC....but I am still hooked on the PC. it's price, ease of installation, power, and stealth look are the main things for me. Frush was trying to sell me on the PW tourqe #'s, but that install looks HELLATIOUS......

Tom, what is your opinion on the powerband of the PW vs the PC?

Tom, what is your opinion on the powerband of the PW vs the PC?

The PW is a roots style blower, the Procharger is a centrifugal style.

The PW is good for power at all RPM's and has a nice low end grunt making the overall driveability of the car better. The centrifugal superchargers have more power cabability because they can spin alot faster and are more effiecient, but the power comes more towards the top-end.

Both are intercooled, the PW being water to air intercooled and the PC being air to air intercooler. Both are extremely good kits for the Zetec. The PW is a bit cheaper (for the reg. zetec) and is more complete (ie: everything from injectors to tuning, to every bracket/bolt you need) whereas the PC is more of a "tuner" kit, you get your own injectors/tuning/etc, its more customizeable

I chose the PW kit due to it being on sale (and it still is) and I plan on getting 300 whp out of it after I put the BBK that Massive makes on it. The other reason is that it looks almost completely stock. I was at the track yesterday, and the tech guys were looking over the motor, and I overheard them saying "looks fairly stock" then one of them looked on the inside, saw my boost guage, and said "this thing is boosted?" I said yes, he said WHERE??!? (lol)

The procharger can acheive the same numbers as well, fairly easily and is a very nice kit. It was my second choice as a replacement for my Jackson Racing supercharger.

In all honesty, if you want alot of power, turbo is the way to go, while i *LOVE* my Powerworks kit, it will be replaced by a turbo next year sometime after I get my tranny built up and an LSD.
