looking on zxtuner.com at cams for my 98 zx2. getting an 03 motor and wondering which cam on that site (preferably the 249+core one) would be good for now and for when I go boost.
would it be the torque cam? or the hiogh rev cam? anyhoo any help is appreciated.
this car probably won't be driven everyday. but streetability is a mild concern.
thanks in advance

IMO turbos don't like cams with too much overlap. Go with a stg1 type cam to move you powerband up. It will give a better powerband now and won't be too much for the turbo setup. Just my opinion on the matter.

so am I better to not do cams for my turbo?

i had crower stage 2 cams before i went turbo, once i put my turbo kit on i put my stock cams in. and now that im building my engine, i ordered turbo grind cams from mcnews. but most of the people running turbos run stock cams.

I would get crower or crane "stg"1's that way you can move your powerband up. However, to keep costs down, I'm sure the stock cam will do just fine

Stick with your stock cams all the "knowitalls" on the ZX2 site will tell you how wondrefull cams are with a turbo and how much power they made with them but not a one have done a true back to back test from a stock cam to a performance cam with FI so they only have opinions , I have done the testing on my dyno and havent seen enough gains in my opinion for what the cams cost and im talking less than 12 HP at 15PSI and less than 14HP gain at 20psi
Stick with your stock cams you will have less idle and tuning issues

thank you guys..
that's going to get me there quicker..
Tom.. I am sending you a PM. I tried to call your shop today, and obviously had the wrong number (little old british sounding lady answered, lol)
I haven't been a fan of the zx2 forum for some time..
FF seems to have a slightly higher maturity level.
I don't want too much power, just enough to cream my buddy's svt.. [}:)]

I just bought as a kit a Jackson Racing Supercharger kit and Crower Stage II cams. The guy I bought it from said he had it dyno tuned with the same set up and is sending me the chip that he had tuned. But I had questions about how aggressive the cams are and being on a FI car that is going to be an everyday driver. I was thinking of getting a Xcal 2 with programs for the JRSC and not the cams and just running the SC without the cam until I could either get a less aggressive cam or one that is made for FI off MCnews.com. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Me and my friend are installing them our selves, he has a lot of experience with boosting different cars, and I have just started school for it. So would the car be reliable with a chip or a flasher that had been pre programmed for the same setup without being dyno tuned. Dynos are kinda hard to find around here.
