: Maybe this won't work

Ok i had a plan my parents get my a header and a flexpipe for my bday and i buy the highflow cat. I'm starting to think i won't be able to get the highflow cat. If i was to just get a header and not get the highflow cat and flexpipe would i bottle neck my exhaust and or not get any gains?

you will get gains...hell...why are you down?...take what you can get.
09-20-2003, 01:28 PM
ya i know man i just wanted to know this because if i wasn't to get gains i would look into something else
09-20-2003, 05:05 PM
so i won't bottle neck right?
09-20-2003, 05:17 PM
Damn, that's a hefty b-day gift.
09-20-2003, 05:19 PM
heh, i guess
09-20-2003, 05:22 PM
Well, I figure that got to be between $300 and $400.
09-20-2003, 05:40 PM
i'm only asking for the header $270 i'm gunna either try and buy the flex and highflow my self or just wait and get the cat and flex for x-mas and install them in the spring. Anyway ya i'm getting only the header from my bday

you will bottle neck. but you will still make power. every mod helps. do what you can when u can is my philosophy.

Problem is if you run a shorty for a length of time you will destroy your stock cat. If the dealer sees this they will not warranty it, due to the shorty. Hence you will need to buy a stock cat $ 400+ buy a RT or FC cat or just keep you ruined stock cat.
But beware a damaged stock cat will heavily restrict performance!

So best buy the header and cat together then?
Would it be ok to buy a flexpipe late then?
09-20-2003, 11:01 PM
maybe you could just do some suspension upgrades and look into power mods later when you can finish your exhaust all at once. get the pro kit or something.

i'd say do the flex/cat/header all in one install, but you're probably not very patient hehe. Get the header and cat, get the flex later, flex pipes can be bought for 70-140 depending on the brand, who you get it from, and new/used. Would be easier to install than the header would be, too.

I say get the cat and flex now, and do the header later. The stock cat is very restrictive.
09-21-2003, 01:40 AM
damn, well that sux. does the header need to come off for the cat install? Damn i guess i wait till xmas and get all 3 and then in the spring install them. It's best to wait and do it right then [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]* it up and deal with it the hard way later. Thanks everyone seriously thanks.
I'll get these then http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33710&item=2433593975
or these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2433594641&category=33710
i can't decide but i'll probably go with black

You should, well at least I did, start from the back and go up. I just finished off my exhaust today.[thumb]

would it be worth it to get the highflow and flexpipe now and then do the header later? U know what i don't know why i am even thinking about this anyway. I live in chicago winter is coming why finish off y exhaust now to put the brand new stuff through a harsh winter right away. I'll get the header, highflow and flex for x-mas and then install them in the sping my mind has been made up

I had my flex and high flow cat on for a while by themselves. The only reason why I got a header so soon was because of the annoying exhaust leak because of the cheap ass gasket that came with the RT cat. Ha, but now it sounds just fine. Do what you want. Your always changing your mind everytime I get on here[hihi]
