I was just wandering what your guys 2nd choice was to buying the Foci?

Mine sadly enough was the Lancer. [8]

I was interested in the hatch back honda si. Thought the rally mounted shifter was cool. Just couldn't see paying for it. Glad I went with the svt though.

My mom insisted I get a car that is reliable, and won't cause problems or break down... So I agreed after test driving the Focus.

My 2nd choice would be a nissan 240. Gotta love read wheel drive.

mine was going to be a Lancer to show off a new one on my friends face, but i really wanted a mazda 3 & those 1999-2001 honda accords 2 door or a 4. ::sigh:: but im happy i got something with a warranty and is different from everyones ride.

I was going to get an F-150, but i am really glad I got a focus. I didnt even know anything about the focus when I bought it. Both of my brothers drive f-150's and I perfer riding low in a compact car, than driving a big ole' truck. I'm still going to get an f-150 some day as my 2nd vehicle.

Mine was the Ranger. I am glad I went with the Focus. I am sure I would be hating life trying to drive in the snow in a light rear wheel drive ranger.....lol. Besides the Focus is a fun car to drive, and if I ever need a truck I just call my brother and use his.

My second choices were the Acura EL (Honda Civic EX with leather) or Civic Si. I didn't get the Si, because my wife doesn't like 2-doors and the prices were just too high. I didn't get the EL because the handling was not as good as the Focus, plus I would have paid alot more money for one out of warranty with more miles. I don't have any regrets!

The focus was actually my 2nd choice ;)

When i went out car shopping i was planning on getting a Golf...but since i wasn't seeing one that i liked...i wanted to go try to find an SVTF...and just my luck...first Ford dealer I went to...there she was...just staring me down :)

Well I was looking at a 97 Red Camaro V6. It didn't have as good of pick up or handling as my 2.3 ZX3 Foci. If I had know about the SVTF I would have waited till I could find one

I was thinking about the Ford Five Hundred or Mercury Montego, but they were a little pricey. I then knew I had to get another SVT, so the Focus it was.

The Focus is actually my second choice. I would've gotten an Eclipse or the Saturn SC2, both 5 speed, but the deals on those aren't as great expecially with the mileage they have for the price. So the Focus at another dealership was the best choice since for 4,600 miles for only $10,500 negotiated price, it's a better deal.

The only thinkg I dislike about my beloved Focus is that it's an automatic.

Focus was second choice for me also.

My first was a 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder, I am still gonna get a spyder one day.

Sadly, I was looking at a regular cab, 4 cylinder ranger, five speed.

you sound like me [:D] The Focus was my second choice, as my first choice was to have an F-150. I still want that supercab flareside Lariat OR XLT someday...

I didn't care about the Focus at all before I got it. I didn't think highly of them or anything, but my friend suggested it. I'm glad I went with it. [thumb]

Civic SI and SRT4 were in the running. Couldnt find an SRT4 in the price range, and I might well have picked up the SI but my insurer wanted even more than the SVT to cover it. I've since come to realize they're pretty close, and I could actually probably get a lower rate on the SI. There was a lot I liked about that car. Granted, it needs dampers, springs and a set of wheels and tires before it can be seen on the same road course, but for all the bashing on this forum it was a damn fine car, I loved the interior, especially the seats.

*shrug* the SVT is better, until it starts breaking.

Focus is my second choice. I had my eye on a 75' vette for a while. It needed a paint job (on a fiberglass car[ohcrap]) , and a new interior. The engine was ok, but it could have used some cleaning up, and it had 90k on it. I decided after some persuasion from my family that i would settle for the focus, it was reliable and better on gas.

04-27-2006, 11:06 PM
the oz lancer never made sense to me. slap on some oz 15's and sell it for 2500 more. lol

in order of what i wanted

1. 2002 Toyota MR2 spyder - To much money
2. 1986 porsche 944 turbo - to many miles. needed reliable car that i didnt have to fix
3. 2005 Lancer Ralliart - decided i would get made fun of for not being a evo
4. 2005 Ford FUCUS. As i called it then. now its my baby and i couldnt be happier!!!

Still want the 944 turbo though. i'm going to get one when i get out of college and use it as a cruizer!

It was either Focus or keep my Ranger. Really had no second choice car, I just went after the Foci and if I could afford it I could and if not I would kept what I had. The trip into the dealer for the Foci was more of a curiosity trip and I ended up buying a new car, funny how that happens sometimes.

Well, my first choice was actually a Neon Expresso (yeah, I know. But my dad has one, and I really like it). Until the seller sold it out from under me. So, I went to the dealership, and saw the beauty I have now.

Couldn't be happier. Plus, the neon was ATX. The focus I drive is MTX:D

SVT Contour, or (previous gen.) Civic Si. Honda was too much (was a new car at the time and dealers were looking for profit) and the SVTC was and still is a hard car to find with low mileage and a reasonable asking price. Happened across the Focus at a dealer and the rest is history.

1st choice was an SRT-4, second choice was a Civic Si, found a SRT-4 but it was priced like new, and it was a pre-owned vehicle, then i went to get the blue Civic Si a the honda dealer, and to my suprise it was gone, they had it for 2 days and them BAM it was gone, i shouldnt have taken a day to think it over, i love my ZX3, but i really wanted a Si, anyways, one day....:P

Golf, Vibe or Protege5. I play the drums, so I need something to haul my set and I'm not quite ready to afford the new Xterra. My ZX3 ended up having all the options I never expected to get and so much more.

the focus was my second choice, when i first started i honestly didnt wanna go anywhere near a 4cly b/c i wanted something that was going to be fast. Really wanted a mustang, but that wasnt happening and i was looking at pontiac grand am gt's but didnt really find any good deals. Im a musician and i use to lug my amps and stuff to my friends house, and my brother had a focus, and my dad was trying to get me to get a ford. So i thought why not a focus hatch, so thats what i got. And now i want to get a different car after two years haha, its a good car, but its slow, and the gas milage SUCKS.......those of you who dont know im getting 19mpg, yea i know its retarded...just look at my sig.

04-29-2006, 08:52 AM
well, i got my focus before i was even into it...lol...all i was lookin for was something that got good gas mileage & looked pretty good. well, my 2 choices at the dealership were a focus & a neon...i think i made the right choice!!!

This was my second choice to the PT Cruiser at first, but after the dealer tried to pull a quick one at both the Ford and Chrysler dealerships, we went to a 2nd Ford dealership and got a great deal. I still wish the interior was the quality of the cruiser though. ^^^ 19 MPG !!! That is insane, I get 25 doing 95% city, and flooring it at every green!!

Onlyford4me
04-29-2006, 09:45 AM
I didn't have a second choice. I wanted a car that was a hatchback, had plenty of room in the back for hauling...yes I'm going to say it...groceries (I love married life), I also wanted great gas mileage, and something that looked nice. I decided that I was looking for a focus. I wanted standard, no options except air conditioning and preferably a radio. I love my car! Unfortunately it's one of those cars that you love to modify.

stah
04-29-2006, 10:53 AM
Well I wanted either a hatch Focus or a V8 Mustang, in that order. When I couldn't find a Hatchback Focus with everything I wanted in it (power windows, locks, cruise, MTX all for under $10K) I started considering my options because I wanted something soon. Well I started looking for either a good Civic Ex or Si, a V8 (nothing less) Mustang, or a Toyota Celica, all MTX. You know it's funny how when you quit looking, you find EXACTLY what you want. [8D] So now I'm the proud owner of a 2002 ZX3 Yellow FORD FOCUS!

iced_theater

Mazda 3s with most options minus navigation. I get a good discount from quite a few manufacturers and the 3 I was looking at would of come to $18.5K after the discount from $22K.
Was also looking at a Nissan Sentra SE-R as well as the Volkswagen Golf TDi, but $20K for that Golf was just way too expensive.

Sinan
04-29-2006, 11:56 PM
I had my eyes on a gray VW Golf GTI Mk5, but I was few thousands short and didn't want to spend my life paying off $26K. meanwhile, this $1000 cash back, $500 dealer moving sale started to float up, and just saw it as a good deal, so I went with a new Focus ZX3. Overall, I managed to shave off about $3500 off of $14,000 MSRP. So my total car price was somewhere around $11,000.

The focus was my second choice. I was originally planning to get a Civic or RSX. Sadly, it didn't pan out, so the focus was a good, cheap alternative. I wasn't expecting much of it, well, I expected it to be reliable and not be a strain on my wallet. Oh well. Next time, I think I'll skip the ford dealer.

Unfortunately the Focus was my third choice. I wanted a Hyundai Tiburon GT or a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, but since i was 16, my parents said i had to get a domestic made car, so i choose my domestic choice, the focus.

Focus wasnt even on my list. I came upon it by accident. I was in the market for a VW GTI or an Audi A4. I had a found a 2001 red 6spd Audi S4 (my dream car) that was $18K, but my mom wouldnt even consider co-signing even tho my payments wouldnt have been a whole lot more than my focus payments are.
