Hey just wanted to know if there was any news out or anything about this engine being offered in other ford vehicals besides the edge and the 500 and the fusion, specifically replacing the 4.0l v6 in the mustang which is crazy underpowered....210hp outta 4.0L engine, seems to low to me. Anyway it would be awesome if ford did that, b/c besides it being fast itll be able to keep up if not beat the previous generation GTs. Plus it would be perfect for people whod want a pre 05 GT but dont wanna pay the hefty insurence fees for the car, i know id consider it, even though id much rather have that v8 rumble, but insurence would definitly be killer. I hope they up the horsepower, b/c i dont think people buyin it would be too happy with their car when theres a ford 500 or fusion next to them that can kick the v6 mustangs ass.
no news.. no one knows.. if you are memberof FJ.. ask there.. there are coupld of guys there that usually know quite a bit from inside Ford.

Looks like so far the new 3.5 is reserved for transverse located front wheel drive platforms. The 4.0 in the Mustang is basically the same V-6 engine as in the Explorer. Getting 210 hp out of now is a lot better than the 160 some odd hp it had a few years ago. Besides, if you want more hp in your Mustang - - that's why there's a GT.

I could probly find out if you wanted.( edit what he ^ said)
Other wise I am not sure. the other thing is I believe ford might want to use the CVT tranny on that engine for cars like the five hundred and the fusion. I personaly hate the CVT tranny its probly best suited for the elderly who need cars just to get from point A-B, I need to know the engine is there.
Trust me the GT Mustang is fast ( rubs neck)

^^^oh i know its fast, i drove one lol, then went and got some new pants at walmart after. But it also cost a bagillion dollars to insure, thats why i was asking b/c a new stang with a v6 with the same power as the previous generation GT would of been sick.

Those 4.0 L mustang V6's are quite cool, if they're the same engine as the Ranger and Sport Track, which they are (say for the DOHC, they'll have plenty of Power. My dads Ranger has the 4.0 L and it hauls. Off topic, those CVT's are sweet, mom's 500 has it and I must say it is awesome for passing at speed but not off the line. Its a tank off the line but man when you punch it, the RPM's go right to the best possible powerband and it just stays there lol.
BTW It was not mentioned yet...
The D35 IS designed with RWD in mind - so putting it in the Stang is not out of the question. However, the new GM co-developed 6speed and the CVT are the only trannys matted to that engine at this point... there has been no MTX application announced as of yet.
