Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone in the Grand Rapids MI area knew of a Black srt type car with light tint, a cage, gauges on the A pillar, BIG tach, and steel wheels w/hubcaps. The car looked like a plain jane neon from behind. I was on my way back north when I came across this guy on the I-196 near G.R. I was in my lovely little silver wagon and I had my wife, son and both dogs with me. I told my son "Hold on".(JK) I tried to ride next to him to get a good look and he just waved me off!!(My wife muttered something to me about juveniles I believe) Anyway, just wondering if anyone knew this guy and if his car is a SLEEPER, or just for show?

Most likely a knock-off. did you see the front end? That'd help tell whether it was an SRT or not. did he have the big SRT hoop spoiler? And the front airdam? And the dual exhausts?

It wouldn't be hard to turn a SRT-4 into a Neon-looking sleeper...remove the hoop wing, put a single-exit exhaust on and trade the front bumper fascia and hood for one off of pretty much any late-model Neon and you have the sleeper. It probably wouldn't be too hard to find a Neon R/T or SXT owner who would be willing to swap most of the parts either...

This had a SXT badge on the trunk, no wing, and a plain front end. If the tint would have been a little darker I would not have been able to see what I did. (Realizes purpose for tint"DUH[bash] [duh] ) But thanks for the responses. LOL if I tint the wagon maybe people will think it's a sleeper!!!!

There's a guy in town who has a WRX, but its got an STi engine and suspension, along with the gearbox. I dunno if he upgraded a regular 'Rex, or just exterior peices of of the STi, for the sleeper look. It's a nice looking car.

Dodge also made some cars that looked like SRT-4's, but are not, just clones. Now everyone with an SRT-4 is getting crap for everyone racing SRT-4's when all they are racing is the standard Neon, LOL! The only way to really tell is to listen for the blow off valve, or if he walks away fairly hard, LOL!
