Geez... that article wasn't exactly KIND to the Focus. It kept hitting on the point of reliability over and over again. So far, I haven't had any problems with mine at all. Plus the article makes the rest of the Focus engines beside the PZEV seem like they are total crap or something. I mean, it makes the Zetec sound like some 30 year old, overhead valve wheezer of an engine. [rolleyes]

it said the armrest is in the way during shifting, my 2.3 dosent have an armrest... is this an option, since they had the premium package

Here's some of my "favorite" quotes:

Not only is the 2.3-liter Focus a two-fer ? more power, less pollution ? but it's just $115 more than the dirtier, slower 2-liter Focus.

Even if you hate the Focus appearance - many do -

Unfortunately subpar reliability continues to prevent our recommending it." The magazine's editors are candid in saying Focus would be their top small-car choice if its reliability record were at least average. Instead, Focus earns the magazine's worst-possible rank for reliability and for owner satisfaction.

Yeah, my Focus is sooooooooo slow.
I really don't think a lot of people hate it's appearance as many as you see on the road.
And I haven't had one single problem with mine yet , 7200 miles, over six months. Looks to me like they are putting it down.

What's so funny is, is that I've never even seen anything about a PZEV Focus until I came here. All I know now is it's cleaner/less pollution and it's an option only on 2004, or is it? I'm kinda curious now..lol

I have one, and its a Premium ZX3. And it doesn't interupt my shifting at all.

The 2.3L PZEV came out in 2003 in CA, NY, and MA. Its an option now on 2004 models.

I don't know what they are talking about with the armrest. It doesn't bother me at all when I shift. They have some balls saying the armrest shouldn't be in a manual tanny car. I like my armrest!!!

The armrest was one of the major reasons why I got the ATX. I am tall and like to move the seat all the way back and even lean the back of the seat back a little. When I would try to shift, the armrest was blocking my forearm. I had to crank my wrist around the armrest to shift. I folded the armrest up. With the seat back all the way, the armrest doesn't fold up to exactly 90 degrees. Now when I would shift, my elbow would hit the armrest.

Maybe the people that don't like the armrest don't sit correctly. [;)]

So tell me what the correct way to sit is? I sit the seat straight up when I drive. I also, like guerro, move the seat almost all the way back because I have long legs.

Sorry, my 'Winky' didn't come out, because this software requires [] around it.
