I believe, technically, if the cop wants to be an ass your headlights have to be a certain number of inches from the ground or he can give you a ticket.

It varies from state to state, but yes, your car can be too low.

here in CT we only have laws about lifting.. You can only lift 4".. My friends car is about 3 1/2" inches off the ground.. He has NEVER been ticketed for the car being too low. And he once mouthed off to the cop and got nailed for Improper Lighting, excessive noise, speeding, and failure to grant half the roadway.. (driving down the middle to make a fast corner)..

They never hit him for too low.. On the other hand my friend with a lifted 3500 RAM did a 16" skyjacker with 44" super swamper's and got his registration pulled!!

Guess it just matters where you are.

Streets of Legend, right? gay movie, I rented it thinking it was going to be cool, but it sucked....although, that turbo right-hand drive CRX was the single best import car.....

most states have no law for being lowered or jacked, its bumper height they get you for and also the height of the headlights. headlights arent supposed to vary but a certain amount from oem height, same with bumpers.

LOL, i dunno if everyone took that the same as me, but it was funny. id rather get the ticket for being low, than going to jail for being HIGH!!!

In michigan, they don't care how low the car is, or how high the truck is. All they care about is the lights and bumpers.

move to vegas- i have never heard of a law like this. we've got trucks you can drive under and minitrucks you can jump over. Too many rules over there in cali for me. plus, we've got casinos and strippers.

have any of you watched the tru life episode about street racing?? in the end of the video, when the cops were comming down on the street racers, this one guy got tickets for the headlamps not being a certain height, and for the cold air intake not having a sticker on it that declared it to be legal. this was in california, so i would assume that there are laws, buy you'd have to check them and find out what the restrictions are. their main reason(from what i gathered from the episode, when they were interviewing an la cop) is that they dont want the car lowered because some people just do hack jobs when lowering instead of doing it the right way, and it is a safety issue, please, anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong though.

I dont know about Cali, but in Oregon (accourding to the neighborhood cop) no part of your cars body can be below the lowest part of your rims...which could get pretty low with some low pro's on there.

As a general rule of thumb here in Cali ur car has to fit a pack of Cigeretts under it(tall ways up.) Also ur headlights have to be either 23" or 32" off the ground. That is why a lot of lifted Trucks get those head/fog lights when they get lifted.

In the California vehicle code, it says your headlights must be a minimum of 22 inches vertical from the ground.

Me [slap] CrazyMatt

I saw something like this on True Life: I am a street racer. It was too a white integra. Needed to be 22 cm off the ground he was 18.

I think this too low too high car thing is pointless. If the car is too low, shits on you for fuxin up your car on bumps and curbs and stuff. If it's too high.... I dont know a disadvantage to that. I hope you trip and fall out the car I guess.

my stepmother is a CHP officer here in cali, and she said that there is a law, but none of the cops give a rat's A$$ about it. technically, your headlights should be 29 1/2 inches off the ground, but apparently our cops aren't that technical. lights out, yes...
