: Looking at getting an 02
Sapperstang 03-05-2006, 03:24 PM Looked at an 02 SVTF. Car has 43K miles on it, sonic blue, audiophile, etc etc. Guy wants 11,500 for it. Sound like a good deal? It does pull to the right and I will need to get some tires for it soon. Any other advice you guys can give would be great.
Scott_SVT 03-05-2006, 05:19 PM i'd see if you can get someone that already owns one to go with you to see it... the price doesn't sound all that bad, but that is all subject to the condition of the car.
Sapperstang 03-05-2006, 05:44 PM Car is in great condition. Few small scratches and normal wear and tear. It does pull to the right. I am waiting on a carfax.
jonrjen 03-05-2006, 06:21 PM I know where you can get an 04 with the Euro package fully loaded in Screaming Yellow with less than 9K miles for only $3K more. This would come with the remainder of the 36/36,000 warranty plus an additional 12/12,000 on top of that bumper to bumper and then the remainder of the 5year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

pspringe 03-05-2006, 06:23 PM I'll sell you mine for 12k.
42k miles. BRAND new motor.
Scott_SVT 03-05-2006, 07:56 PM if the tires are shot, they may be the cause of the car pulling to the right. especially if they are showing cords or losing air. I'd still have the alignment checked after getting new ones though.
By condition, I meant mechanical, not body. Someone that owns one, or has driven one for a while, may catch things that seem out of the ordinary on the car, squeaks, rattles, drivability issues, etc...
Sonic Blue is a really nice color, though. I'd have bought one in that color, had one been available in the same price range when I bought mine.

thats a bit high of an asking price for a 02 with 43k...especially with alignment issues/bad tires...that means they just didn't take care of the car at all ::thumbs down::
MOST i would pay for that is $9k max, at one time this past summer, u can find a 02 with about the same miles and also fully loaded and with lots of extra for like $8k...i say wait and looking around for one to pop up in the classifieds section. Unless its a EURO edition i wouldn't pay a hair over $8500 for a SVT at that mileage.
Do factor in the possibility of a Clutch TSB which is out of warranty now so that'll burn $1k in ur pockets and various minute problems that will spring up here and there.

Four door=not interested. Interesting you guys say this car is priced too high. I am having a hard time finding these low mileage ones for around 9K like you suggest.
jonrjen 03-06-2006, 06:56 AM I think that most of the low mileage finds will be of the much newer years. And most likely owned by someone older who purchased the car as a toy, not a daily driver. I know that there is a black 04 with low miles on Ebay, but it also is a 5 door Euro Edition.
Keep looking and you will find what you want at a price you like. I am sure to get flamed here for saying this, but I would look for either an 04 model or an 03 which has the 5 year 100,000 mile extended powertrain warranty that came standard from Ford.
However if you get a chance to go look at a 5 door you should do it. I didn't want a 5 door either, but that was about all that was avalible in a Euro Edition by the time I bought. Now I wouldn't take a 3 door, the back doors don't get used much, the back seat has never had anyone sit in them, but the rear doors make it nice if I need to place something in the rear seats and then remove it later with out reaching over the front seat folded forward. Also the 5 door models were much more rare from a production stand point, and even more rare in a Euro Edition. I am not saying go look and then buy mine, I am only saying that you should take a look and compare the differences. The looks of the 3 door are much more pocket racer looking where the looks of the 5 door appear to be much more Euro designed, at least to me. Either way it is a personal preference thing. Either way the SVTF is a great car for the money.
Good Luck
Sapperstang 03-06-2006, 07:04 PM Hey guys. I found an 03 with 29K miles for 11,500. It is a two door, red, has a few mods which include header and some other aftermarket exhaust parts.

SVT alraedy has a very stout exhaust setup...headers might actually decrease performance, a cat and flex are the only two thing i can really see gaining performance on an SVT's exhaust setup.
As for the car itself...still think its too much, shoot for around the 9k-10k range...11.500 is high in my opinion
rfinger 03-06-2006, 08:00 PM I will sell you mine..........Procharger Supercharged, all bolt ons, system with 23k miles for 16k
Sapperstang 03-07-2006, 05:06 AM 16K is more than I want to spend piranha but thanks for the offer. It is very unlikely I am going to find an 03 for 9K. I don't know what some of you guys are smoking.
