was there any fram damage?

the value of your car is about 10k for the insurance company.. maybe more (the used 05's still sell for a lot)..

if there is no frame damage they will fix it.. if there is a frame damage, force them to total it... you do not want it back - trust me...

well you will know if it has frame damage.. it is expensive.. then the claim agent ells you the estimate of work they will tell you...

straightening sheetmental will cost 3k tops...but if hte frame is shot you can add another 3k to it...

Man, that sucks. But I'm glad you're ok, other than the sore neck.

Most insurance companies use a "threshold" of repair cost vs replacement cost. Some are as high as 75%, others go a bit lower. It doesn't take a serious impact anymore to rack up a 6-8K bill. I got to believe that if it's in that neighborhood, they'll likely total it.

Just to feel better about the whole damn car, I would deem it a total. With a collision like that, there HAS to be some tweaks to the chassis of your car. Glad to hear that you're ok on top of it all. The way people drive today is seriously aggravating.

ok heres the best news..... the guy that caused the accident, he hasnt had insurance in 4 years. so we are filing a no insurance claim or whatever threw our insurance and my 800 dollar sound system is all screwed up. i hired a lawyer and hes going after him for my neck injuries, but the bad thing is the guys explorer was in worse damage than me and he is already getting it fixed at a auto body shop.

You know, it's really fricken upsetting when people don't just do what they have to do in the world like they're supposed to. People get dragged down in their disgusting mire of a life and get screwed in the whole process. Hopefully, that idiot will do some jail time for being irresponsible and lazy.

From the pics I'll take a swag and say $5K or less...doesn't look too bad. Can't see how much stuff underneath was tweaked and it should be an easy repair, just expect to make a few adjustment trips after it's all done to get everything perfect again.

that is actually a good thing that he is getting it fixed already..

If he has no insurance, it means he is paying out of pocket.. that means he has money.... there is no way he can claim lack of fund or whatever .. he is getting his car all fixed up, while he killed yours.. I would try to get your lawyer to somehow get a court order to stop the work on his car untill your car is fixed with his funds..

You need to be agreassive... I am no lawyer, but I would think that would be a possible scenario

This is what the "uninsured motorist" option is for. Then the insurance company goes after the guy who was not insured. Sucks that its an option and not part of the package.

If the guy is getting his fixed, you can sue. A siese and desist order is put on the shop doing the repairs and then the explorer gets impounded. Usually they do not get their vehicle back until your Focus and the Ranger are repaired. I am not sure on TX, but when you get into an accident with no insurance in Fl... you kind of get arrested and have the car impounded anyways.

i have uninsured motorist on my insurance and i also got a lawyer to claim my doctor bills, pain and suffering, and loss of work hours and my system. but mercury went out there today to do the estimate. Id rather have my car totalled out and get a nother focus because i dont want the value to be [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] up after they rebuild it.

if they total it... pull off your custom parts. Just like the stereo equipment, just wait till after they toal it and cut you the check though. Get another Focus and transplant your stuff.

well if they total it and im able to get something else, i will probably get a mustang. i loved that focus but if im forced to get another focus i will get one but i prefer other cars more.[;)]

C'mon.. I know Focus is not the best car out there.. but 'Stang?

Go the C1 way - Mazda3 or MS3.. MS6 is getting discounts if you want AWD...

I just cannot imagine many Focus owners enjoying the slow turning Stang.

the mustang will turn very quickly..........but you have to be willing to gun it and break loose the tires, lol. My dad was running a GT Coupe through a short course, his times weren't that impressive when he took each turn without losing traction. When he tried it again, guning it, and powersliding (NOT drifiting) through te corners, his lap times improved quite a bit. Not to mention he look badass.

And madmark, I hope you make out like a bandit. Impound that guy's car, throw his ass in jail, and sue him for all he's worth. Well, at least sue him and impound the car.

Make sure you are 100% positive that you are A-OK....
Problems on your spine from whiplash might not cause pain now.

But a slipped disc or herniated disc can cause you extreme pain if Not corrected.
and this can happen years down the road.

I'd get some x-ray's just to be sure. you got nothing to lose.

That means that one of the rear crumple zones was comprimised, and that's what we call frame damage nowadays. I was hoping it was only the trunk floor, rear bumper, deck, and window, but I should've known that the window doesn't usually blow out like that unless the subframe is torqued out of whack.

Definately a good lawyer will see about doing what Igor mentioned earlier. That guy should pay, and in some states be prosecuted also. I like states like NC and MO where you can't even get tags if you don't have proof of insurance. Why should responsible people pay for irresponsible people?
