im interested in building up my svt focus for a possible mild all motor setup. id like to beef up some tranny components first before i begin to tear down my engine. I was looking at the quaife lsd for my first upgrade along with a clutch and flywheel setup since i will be exposing that anyways. i was wondering if anyone has installed a quaife on their getrag trans , ive never i nstalled a lsd before, in fact i have only rebuilt three trans so im fairly new to the trans game. Id appreciate repsonses of techs poreferably whop have done the install themselves, if possible and problems that i should expect i.e ring gear issues, dissambly of the balance shafts and so forsth. thanks

you may have a little trouble yanking out the halfshafts from the transmission. removing the transmission is a pain in the butt, but can be easily done in under 2 hours with the right tools. the trans case comes apart very easily, and the diff is easy to replace. press new bearings on to the quaife, replace the bearing cups in the trans case, and the halfshaft seals, transfer your ring gear over, and put it all back together. took me about six hours to do it on my car, but only because I took my time. I probably could have done it in 5 or a bit less if I really wanted.

i think u should def read that post about the bearings, they are hard to look up for the parts guys apparently...but once you have everything together...droping the tranny is FAIRLY simple, definitely drop the sub-frame, it makes the job a WHOLE lot easier. We spent 3 hours trying to free my tranny from the car, it was off the engine but the subframe kept catching it...so we finally just unbolted the subframe and it dropped right out and popped right in...you will need an alignment afterwards.
Hope someone else chimes in more on diff install..
p.s. its not really an lsd its an atb diff :P but thats just me being very technical.
