I've made it through most of our winter without needing to "Chain-up", but that changed today. Our cold snap (-19) snapped, and warmed up enough to have freezing rain, and then just rain. I'm posting pictures of my driveway, and the short road that the city hasn't sanded yet, and finally a picture of what it takes to get up that hill!

Wow, that sucks. I have never seen roads that snowy before.

You should see Jersey today...
There's at least a foot on the ground here in central nj and it's still coming down.
My snowblower can't even handle it. Alright, time to head back outside.
hehe. ICE SUX... I can handle snow alright, but Ice is a different story.. the winters here in PA are not that bad.. butback home my dad would never leave the house without chains in the trunk.... ice sux... I hope the city sands it soon..

While I don't envy you having to chain your car to get around, I am envious of you living in such a beautiful state. A coworker of mine spent 10 years in Juneau, granted far away from you. Someday I'll get up there. Would love to take a bike tour.

We haven't had more than about 16" of snow on the ground at any one time this winter, and I've gotten around famously until yesterday. With the true glare ice on the hill, my wife's Bronco (without chains or studs) will have to stay in the driveway till the city sands.
I live 3/10 of a mile from a mom & pop grocery store. I pulled in there and took the chains off and did fine running on the studs. Actually, the biggest driving hazards now (other than the ever present "road idiots") are the large puddles of standing water on the road, and the possibility of hydroplaning. These Hankooks work well with the water though.

what chains are those, I need some and didnt know you can buy any for a car. They look like they do the trick.

They are Peerless Winter Trac traction cables, part # 0173355. The side of the box calls them "SNOTRAC PASSENGER CABLES"

Slap on some ice skates and save some gas on the way to work.

lol, I like the way snow looks, but I hated the commute in it........made for a very depressing winter.
