texassvt 02-08-2006, 04:59 PM no doubt, competition is a good thing. this price rocks also. i am going to have to look very hard at this. i just ordered my ford racing STS form them also, best price i could find anywhere on it.[thumb]
PapoSwing 02-08-2006, 05:07 PM Is this the same one Wayne is selling? I want to see what price he comes up with before settling with McNews...

is RT a different brand than wayne's Random Technology?
stokedsvt 02-08-2006, 07:46 PM i know i did kinda just jump on the decision but i doubt it will go any lower than 275 shipped for the rt plus im not going to be around for the next few days, have u heard from wayne yet?svt2nv04

Yel900rr 02-08-2006, 09:07 PM Yes these are the real RT cat. I am sorry to those thet have bought previous to this sale. We have tried to maintain a good structure for dealers and Wayne wanted to push it. We appreciate all of the orders. We will run this until the 18th end of next week.

Our cats are totally made by Random with there warranty on the complete product.
EnviedSVT 02-09-2006, 02:14 AM Hm...Can Mcnews or anybody that has HAD the ORP and the RT high flow cat explain between the two which one has more power? i dont really mind much about the low end torque....our engines dont really produce much low end not up until over 4K anyways.....I have a off road pipe rite now...should i just keep it or go with this high flow cat??? power difference...? sound?

nope. i guess he didn't get online last night. i don't see responses from any of the threads in his hypnotic section from last night. he probably won't respond here i wouldn't think. you're going to have to check back with the original thread in the hypnotic section to see what wayne says
turbozetec 02-09-2006, 09:00 AM Have you guys dyno tested these if so whats the hp gain over stock?

You might want to search a bit more on this topic, as it has been discussed to death, but definitely get the hi-flow CAT, there is no good reason for having an ORP.
turbozetec 02-09-2006, 10:41 AM does the ORP give more power?
svt2nv04 02-09-2006, 11:10 AM barely by maybe 1 or 2 hp. it's going to be louder too. the rt is what i want with the stock exhaust. i don't want anything too loud. i've heard that the orp gives you more low end hp but the rt cat gives more in high rpms.
R00ST650 02-09-2006, 11:13 AM A good estimate for HP gain is around 4-5 over stock. ORP is somewhere around 6-7. Seems depending on the dyno and other mods people get 1-2 above or below those numbers.
turbozetec 02-09-2006, 11:16 AM What about with FI would it make a big difference I know the cat would have to be more restrictive causing a drop in power?
SVTmonkey 02-09-2006, 11:20 AM Originally posted by svt2nv04

Actually, the ORP robs low end power, and they'll be about equal gains up top.
Not to mention the $2500 price of a ticket if you get caught with an ORP, again, research, I don't want to repeat myself again.
turbozetec 02-09-2006, 11:59 AM dude do a search on it all you find is peoples openions not facts.
svt2nv04 02-09-2006, 12:20 PM will wayne's numbers be enough for you? he doesn't have a dyno but go on his site i'm pretty sure he has the gains on each mod!!
turbozetec 02-09-2006, 12:32 PM thanks thats what im looking for [thumb]
svt2nv04 02-09-2006, 12:41 PM you're welcome. from now on we can say do a search lol
R00ST650 02-09-2006, 12:42 PM Mine got shipped today :) cant wait!
I do like the sound of my ORP + borla combo, but wouldnt mind a bit less sound and a bit deeper tone. I will shoot some video with the orp+borla now and then new stuff once I get the high-flow on for comparison.
2004SVTAutoXer 02-09-2006, 08:34 PM the ORP sounds like hell in my opinion. these are great pieces and offer the peace of mind. i just wish i could have saved a buck or 80.
R00ST650 02-09-2006, 09:30 PM I really dont think it is THAT bad... but then again ive only heard the borla/orp combos (few different borla setups) and they are all pretty grumbly with a tad bit of rice mixed in, but overall is not a bad sound. I guess everybody has different opinions on sound...and everyone knows about opinions ;)
BackNBlackSVT 02-10-2006, 11:15 AM Got mine comming, thanks McNews!
stokedsvt 02-10-2006, 03:14 PM ordered wendsday and got it this morning fast shipping man going to install it in 15 min ill get back to you all oh yea thatnx mcnews
R00ST650 02-10-2006, 03:33 PM Good to hear you got it so fast. Hopefully mine comes today or tomorrow yet so I can get it on this weekend.
stokedsvt 02-10-2006, 10:05 PM well i didnt start till 5:30 and i finished at 10:15 those [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]g bolts were so [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]g annoying that i alomost called it quits plus the back two bolt are almost impossible to get to so i just removed everything from the flexpipe to the header it seriously could of takin 1 hour withe a lift and air tools but anyway i love the sound withe stock pipes... but i didnt drive it yet im goin now... btw perfect fittment!!!!!
R00ST650 02-10-2006, 11:59 PM hopefully mine will be a quick install. I have an ORP on now so dealt with those ungodly bolts the first time.
Let us know how it sounds!
JohnMichael 02-11-2006, 12:56 AM Yep, definitely keep us informed, would like to hear feedback... more sound clips? Good to hear about the fast shipping.
stokedsvt 02-11-2006, 11:50 AM ok i can not be happier after the first start up all my nerves finally calmed down the noise is clean withe stock pipes it is not raspy at all it is the same noise as stock just a little louder and it sounds great i love it and i can definatly feel a difference even my freinds and brother said it feel like is faster well great mod in my opinion and if your worried about sound DONT cause it sounds great that was what kept me from buying it the whole time and wish i didnt wait!
SLIP STREAM SVT 02-11-2006, 12:08 PM what new bolts did you use? what are the sizes and grade of bolt?
stokedsvt 02-11-2006, 02:54 PM well the old bolts would not come off so they are 3/8 bolts at 1 1/2 long and grade 8
texassvt 02-12-2006, 04:42 PM installed pics please!!!!!!!!and sound would be nice.
R00ST650 02-14-2006, 11:43 AM I got mine last night and am going to put it on now. One thing I noticed is that mine didnt come with any paper work? I know there should at least be warranty info (as there is a sticker on the pipe that says the warranty sheet must be sent in) and then from what I have heard a card you stick in your glove box to prove that you have a cat on for emissions.
I will snap a few pics while im under there and then make a sound clip too.
R00ST650 02-14-2006, 01:11 PM first thoughts...THIS SUCKS!
LOL- I got used to the nice grumble of the ORP (ok so the ORP is slightly ricey, but it had a good depth to the sound). I start this up and can barely tell anything over stock (engine is reasonably cold so i let it idle a minute and go wash up to get ready for the test drive).
It appears there is a TINY bit more torque lower down, but I am pretty sure I can tell a slight loss in the upper HP range. I used to like getting it to 4-5k on the tach and punch it and now it seems a tad more mellow. Then again a couple hp or a couple ft/lbs is somewhat hard to notice either way so I dont know what the true deal is. I was also unhappy about the sound...its like 45 degrees or so and I had the windows up. One thing I liked (but also disliked) about the ORP was between 2200-2900 it had a really mean growl but below/above that it was much more mellow. I ended up rolling down the windows and once it was fully warmed up revved it up and I must say this is a MUCH more mature tuned sound rather than just LOUD. It isnt NEARLY as loud below 4krpm but 4.5-7k it has a good note to it. The thing im loving is this exhaust sounds how exhausts should (unlike the ORP) it has a similar sound all the way through, dosnt sound like this and this between 2-3k then get quiet 3k-4k then sound like a fart can 4k-7k- its a flat mean sound.
Sorry for my wordy nonsense (dont know if any of you even have a clue as to what im talking about lol) but anyway- I am definitely satisfied with my purcashe. Not only do I get a much more mature nice sounding exhaust, mother nature is happier as well.
Switching out the orp to the RT only took about 45 minutes including jacking/cleanup. MUCH quicker the second time around - those bolts were not nearly as stubborn! One thing is for sure- the RT is a beautiful piece! I almost just wanted to hang it on a wall it looks so nice - almost a pewter color.
I now have video clips to show the exhaust sound difference and also a few pics (of orp on the car RT on the car and of the RT/ ORP / Stock cat lying next to each other to show the difference). I will try to get these up soon - anybody know a good place to host the videos? I have never put vids on the net before just pictures.
ouikikazz 02-14-2006, 01:45 PM www.putfile.com i beleive it is a good place for videos or videos.streetfire.net
LastRites 02-14-2006, 02:34 PM I'm going to grab a video going through a tunnel at 4,000-6,000 RPM's in 2nd. That is one mean assed sound [}:)]
R00ST650 02-14-2006, 02:36 PM ya, well the ORP is meaner! I think going from stock to the high-flow would be better than going from ORP to high-flow! The spending money to lose a bit of hp part kind of stinks but o well... I do like the more mature/tuned sound rather than the - rally car/open header sound lol.
Thanks I will give putfile a try
JohnMichael 02-14-2006, 03:31 PM I want mine. Dangit, I want it now. Should be either today or tomorrow... *please*
LastRites 02-14-2006, 04:28 PM LINK (http://www.youtube.com/?v=Lt1_QYw-v5A)
A 2nd gear pull through a tunnel....crappy audio but still cool
JohnMichael 02-14-2006, 05:48 PM Whoa, was that you? Sounds pretty good, only you can't hear it right...should have had the guy standing in the tunnel near the entrance so the sound would have been more focused, and the camera would have picked it up alot better.
Now, go do it again. [:D]
DeltaT 02-14-2006, 10:14 PM I just got mine today, no paperwork for the warranty either. Also i was dissappointed with the packaging, the box was completely beat to shit.
R00ST650 02-15-2006, 12:10 AM Ya my box was pretty beat. For how pricey the piece is (and how nice it is) some foam wrapping would have been nice. O well everything seems to be ok.
DeltaT 02-15-2006, 07:04 AM Yeah nothing looked damaged, just the fact that part of a flange was hanging out of the box made me think WTF?
LastRites 02-15-2006, 07:21 AM Um...my box was immaculate, not even a wrinkle or a crease. I wish that I would have kept it as it was such a beautiful box. [:D]
JohnMichael 02-15-2006, 07:37 AM I want my box... where could he be? [:(] Could you take pics of your box, Chuck and post them up? [rofl]
LastRites 02-15-2006, 08:42 AM No can do friend, Wayne kept my box because he is a stingy old man and wanted to revel in the glee of "owning" my box [:(]
It was gorgeous though, long, brown.....a nicely placed Random Tech logo in yellow [:D]
texassvt 02-15-2006, 01:30 PM just called up and ordered mine, they are out of stock right now but said they have more on the way[8D] can't wait.
JohnMichael 02-15-2006, 05:43 PM lol, finally got that sucker in today! Thanks guys for the great price and quick shipping...as others have stated the box appeared as if it had gone to Abudabee and back... [;)] But the piece itself is gorgeous and well done, here are a few pics.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/johnrend/GreatlookingRTCat.jpg
svt2nv04 02-16-2006, 04:09 AM i ordered mine yesterday also. it'll be 7-10 days before they get them in stock to ship.
LastRites 02-16-2006, 06:51 AM The one thing that irks me about the pipe is the placement of the front O2 bung, damn is that close to the tranny [???:)]
LastRites 02-16-2006, 07:15 AM So JohnMichael what's the verdict? Is it as sweet a part as I told you it would be?
JohnMichael 02-16-2006, 07:19 AM Installing this morning! Will post later on as I get off work at 7...people want their darn phones and we aim to please... [;)]
R00ST650 02-16-2006, 01:13 PM two day report: I think it broke in a tad as it got a little more grumbly. I am now very satisfied with the sound. I really was starting to miss the ORP/rally sound but the classy tuned exhaust sound is much more pleasant and not nearly as obnoxious.
I did notice an oil leak when under the car though :( looks like shes going in!
texassvt 02-16-2006, 06:53 PM man JM after seeing that i can't wait for mine to get here. in the mean time i am installing my STS and getting an alarm installed on monday. there's just to much money going into her to let someone take it for free. of course if i can't catch them the 9MM can[}:)] [thumb]
texassvt 02-16-2006, 06:57 PM LastRites, can't you just get some electrical wiring and extend the 02 sensor if you are that worried? i did this in my WRX for the same reason, the 02 sensor was just to close to the downpipe. just make sure to solder the wires, don't splice them and also use heat shrink.
JohnMichael 02-16-2006, 10:47 PM Whoa, I'm going to have to take pics of the stock cat compared to the New RT...totally different in size and weight! The stocker is freaking huge compared to the HFC, and weighs at least twice as much! The install went fine, I actually had a few buddies of mine install it over at Meineke...
The sound is just as everyone describes, intoxicating. I love it! Mine may actually be louder than most as I have had the 'Lunchbox' chopped off my Exhaust for the last month. Burbly and grumbly when changing gears or when decelerating...and a great HUMMMMMMM when accelerating. When you get on it, it's a wonderfully tuned sound that reminds me of the old British Racing cars...
Definitely love this mod, and the cost was just too good to pass up! I've always been looking for the best sound for my focus since I first acquired it, and dangit, this is pretty close! Thanks, McNews! [thumb]
svt2nv04 02-17-2006, 05:14 AM did you feel any gain too?
LastRites 02-17-2006, 07:10 AM Not that you should but.....just wait until you romp on the gas a bit on a cool engine, lol [:D]
As to the O2 sensor thing, I'll take a picture of what I'm talking about. Nothing comes to mind as a "fix"
JohnMichael 02-17-2006, 07:36 AM ^^^Yep, definitely see what you are referring to with the closeness of the sensor to the tranny...well, it shouldn't flex hard enough to hit it anyways, right? [;)]
I really haven't gotten on it too bad, I shall have to indulge today thought, won't I... [:D]
LastRites 02-17-2006, 07:40 AM You aren't living until you hit DSI with it on! Pipe sounds more defined as the outside temperatures are warmer, just an FYI in case it's cool were you are
JohnMichael 02-17-2006, 07:44 AM DSI...consider it done. [:D]
LastRites 02-17-2006, 07:51 AM http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/4631/dsc022224rq.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
texassvt 02-17-2006, 01:27 PM i now see what you mean LastRites, that is real close.
JohnMichael 02-17-2006, 06:51 PM Oh, the sweet music that is DSI Switchover with a newly installed RT HFC... harmony to my ears. [:D]
texassvt 02-17-2006, 09:28 PM JohnMichael you are killing me with these post!!!!! haaaaaaaaaaaa i can't wait. anyone know when they are getting there next shipment? by the way johnmichael great pics, form the look of it i should have gotten two of them, one for the car the other to hang on the wall.[thumb]
MR.SVT2003 02-22-2006, 02:41 PM it looks like you got a great response to the sale i was wondering when will you be having this sale again
TwighlightBlueZx5 02-22-2006, 04:22 PM ^^^ yes i'd be very interested if this sale went up again , i just hadn't had the money the past two weeks , now i do , so if there is another sale or great price like this one was please let us know...
texassvt 02-22-2006, 05:06 PM any updates on when the next shipment will go out?
Yel900rr 02-22-2006, 06:07 PM We are hoping to have them this week. There will not be another sale like this on these again.
DeltaT 02-24-2006, 10:16 AM I just got mine installed yesterday, i have some mixed feelings. Below 2500rpm and between 3500 and 4500rpm sounds pretty stock. It drones a bit more than i would like at crusing rmps (2500ish) so i find myself in a higher gear now to drop the rpm below the dron range and i have the stock exhaust. But man is it nice when you get to about 4500rpm and then when the DSI kicks it its a beast! I wish i could hear what it sounds like out side of the car.
LastRites 02-24-2006, 10:47 AM I heard mine yesterday at idle in the dealer service bay and was like "dayumm...dats sweet!"
It sounded so nice indoors. The tech that started it up and moved it got out and walked around the car twice looking at it and another one that heard it came over, they were very into it. Thing that bugs me is all the cold weather we have, can't really enjoy the mature tone as much as I would like as it sounds (IMO) much better in warmer weather.
texassvt 02-24-2006, 09:32 PM keep it up you guys, i want sound files/videos. i hope they got the shipment cause i want mine NOW!!!!!!! huh huh....[?|]
JohnMichael 02-25-2006, 07:59 AM I actually get many more head turns with the HFC now, and I find that I need to keep my stinkin foot off the gas to improve the 'ole mileage... [:D] I love going through the Wendy's drive-through to hear my new low grumble/burble.
That's another thing, after my tune from Wayne my exhaust burble went away. Now, it's back with a vengeance! I love it! [thumb]
DeltaT 02-25-2006, 10:49 AM That's another thing, after my tune from Wayne my exhaust burble went away. Now, it's back with a vengeance! I love it! [thumb] [/B]
I noticed that too. Oh how i missed the burble.
svt2nv04 02-25-2006, 11:23 AM ^^^ yeah i like it a liittle bit to an extent. a little "burble" sounds good just not too much
LastRites 02-25-2006, 11:27 AM what, like when the cat is cold and you give it some gas [:D]
BFocusSVT 02-26-2006, 03:55 PM Damn, I just missed this sale!!! Any idea when you guys might re run this, thanks?

I e-mailed them today. Everyone's reviews have sucked me into wanting to purchase one. I'm awaiting an e-mail response to see if they might honor it up to this point. However, the post above may be the answer to our current question as if this might continue or not.
TwighlightBlueZx5 02-27-2006, 12:26 PM yea i could get that sale price right now , i would buy it as soon as they responded i really want one....
texassvt 02-28-2006, 07:19 PM any update on the status of this sale? has anyone else got there's?
I still have yet to receive a response, so my guess is the sale is over. I will give them a call tomorrow during their hours.
Yel900rr 03-01-2006, 05:37 AM We received 10 cats yesterday. They were all shipped to the first 10. We should have the rest anyday.
texassvt 03-01-2006, 03:43 PM got my tracking number today. thanks guys can't wait to get it installed.[thumb]
BackNBlackSVT 03-02-2006, 11:56 AM YES, I'm one of the 10, I got my tracking number[headbang]
texassvt 03-04-2006, 12:06 PM has anyone else made any sound files of there RT cat?
LastRites 03-04-2006, 12:28 PM I'll try again later today....the audio on my camera just doesn't record as true to life as I would like [:(]
texassvt 03-06-2006, 08:04 PM tracking number says it will be here tomorrow. can't wait till the weekend to install it. will have pics but hace no idea on how to video. anyone else got any sound files etc... on threr RT cat?

texassvt 03-08-2006, 03:46 PM can't wait to get this thing installed. come on weekend.
JohnMichael 03-08-2006, 07:45 PM Pretty sure you're gonna love it! My gas mileage is still trying to recover... [:D]
LastRites 03-08-2006, 07:48 PM What's gas mileage John? [rolleyes]
[}:)]
JohnMichael 03-08-2006, 07:51 PM I still can't get over how much better my exhaust note sounds, not to mention the loss of 10-15 pounds over that other beast of a cat! [thumb] That thing was HUGE!
texassvt 03-09-2006, 02:07 PM did anyone install the cat themselves or did most take it some where to have it done, and what is the average cost. yea i was hoping the gas milage would go up, but it might go down. now i just need to get wayne's intake.
JohnMichael 03-11-2006, 08:23 AM Your mpg will drop for sure. [;)] I took a look at installing it myself, but decided I had no time between juggling a wedding, a house, and ASM position at job...so I got my boys down at Meineke, they charged like $30 but they always do everything for cheap. [thumb]
LastRites 03-11-2006, 09:24 AM Yeah I paid too, my tools are still in storage and wanted the part on immediately. It's easy enough to do on your own for subsequent times, like when I used to change the ORP back & forth, but initially if you could get a killer deal like JM did I would do it.
And about gas mileage, I really don't observe my consumption rates. I know on the trip here it was getting amazing mileage in the like 3,600 we did highway.
So John, you still digging the part? I'm still contemplating getting the lunchbox hacked off. Just looking for a little more volume out of the exhaust but admittedly it sounds killer (and very tuned) as it is stock with the RT.
Hey did you use an O2 cheater? I had used the one from my ORP, just in case. Was wondering if the rest of you were running with or without?
thisisthelastname 03-11-2006, 10:02 AM just jumped into the topic..... I use an "off road" pipe with MIL eliminator- are these still cool to use? Why still a cat?- to pass emissions? shortened cats can still fail....the passing requirements are different state to state, even county to county.-
What are emissions tests? [}:)]
LastRites 03-11-2006, 11:12 AM I think those are when the cop that pulls you over knows at least something about cars and can smell and hear that you are sporting a race header or test pipe (ORP), and he doesn't like you to begin with and he stoops over taking a glance under the front lip and spies either a legal cat or a fat federal violation [:p]
I don't have to get an emissions test done on my vehicles here until 2008 so at least I'd have a few years to play around if I choose to [:D]
texassvt 03-11-2006, 11:35 AM as far as i know there is no schedule for emissions testing where i live, and i have no problem even if they did. i do my best to stay legal so i can avoid the run in with the cops, as well i would like the air to be as clean as it can be for my kids. things to consider is that things we mess up now will have a direct effect on what the future generations can/will be allowed to do to there cars and trucks/suv's. besides why risk the penelty and fine if you get caught. ob the top side i just got back from having my RT cat installed, cost $40 bucks to do the labor. they used new grade8 hardware with locking nuts and loctite, i don't want to have to go back so better safe than sorry. the sound is like WOW!!!!!!!!!! very nice deep sound, with my lunchbox hacked off and a magaflow muffler i must say i am quite happy now. if i can figure out my digi cam's video mode i will try to get some sound files up later...[thumb] [thumb] for a great product.
FuryFocus 03-15-2006, 08:28 AM yea we have the tests here im MD like every 3 years i think. ive done one and they were so busy, that they just wrote down my tag #, collected my papers, my 14$ and told me to leave.
IS THIS DEAL STILL GOING ON?
reinhart 04-03-2006, 11:18 AM Just called and the price is closer to $350 now with the threat that the price may go up again soon. Anyone have another source? I can see paying $300.
MVent 04-25-2006, 11:41 AM I sure wish this would get picked back up again. RT cat is going to be my next mod.
HaveBlue83 04-25-2006, 11:48 AM just buy it for $350...I did, and I am not sorry at all.....thing is, most of the people that wanted one got it th first time.....I almost did, but I didn't have the cash...I waited till I did, and I couldn't be happier...I was just enjoying the sound of it 5 min ago too [:)]
focuzzz 04-25-2006, 07:03 PM i would be in to get one too, i don't really want to spend 350 for it though... how many people would it take to get another discount like before?
macdiesel 04-25-2006, 08:46 PM ^^^ werd to that, $350+ lookin' kinda steep. might just get a rt universal and get it welded in somewhere.
MVent 04-25-2006, 10:13 PM Do you actually get noticeable gains with this? My friends car ran dead even with my car until third gear and after I got my CAI we still ran exactly the same. Granted the CAI gives 2-3 HP but I was hoping that it would've at least let me inch on him.
There's alot of guys that just barely inch on me and I want to beat them. Hoping the RT would do it.
LastRites 04-26-2006, 10:27 AM The RT is worth the money and I paid full price. It really shines when the DSI hits, those that have it already know exactly what I'm talking about. If you are looking for that slight little edge to race with I think a custom tune may be a better choice but a high-flow cat is just behind it. Truly a wonderful little boost for our engines [thumb]
MVent 04-26-2006, 01:23 PM A tune is definitely on my list. I just want to get most of the bolt-ons first so i can get the most out of my tune.
nevik 05-01-2007, 11:36 AM I'm curious if this RT pipe is better sonding than cfm high flow cat? Looking to get one or the other, just want to get others opinions....I have never heard of anyone talk-up the cfm high flow cat as I have of the rt pipe. Does the cfm cat sound decent. Sounds like the rt cat makes a good exhaust note?
is there somewhere I can get some sound clips of both on a semi stock svt?[cool]
svt2nv04 05-06-2007, 09:10 AM the biggest benefit of the cfm one is that the fitment is much better. i'm not sure about the sound
Yel900rr 05-11-2007, 09:26 AM We have sold a ton of these cats and have only had 2 or 3 fitment issues on the SVT. Normally from cars that have hit there headers.
Poney 05-11-2007, 09:52 AM the R/T cat is tha shizzle
