: A Few Mods
4 Bangin' Ben 02-08-2006, 04:20 AM I'm looking to do a little upgrading for the SVTF this summer. Let me know what you think:
Steeda Underdrive pulleys
Steeda Billet Aluminum Engine Mounts
Steeda Tri-Ax/F Short-Throw Shifter SVT Focus
Nothing real big. Would you folks think this would be beneficiary upgrades to me? Also, I'm not looking for an intake either. I'm happy with the stock intake I have.
Are there any suspension upgrades I can look for?
Steeda's Tubular Strut Tower Brace - I was looking at this.
All these items are listed on Steedafocus.com. So, let me know what you think.
orangecrate 02-08-2006, 05:22 AM i bought the focus central udp and cant tell if it did anything or not, now somebody else will tell you that it gave them more power but as for me i just cant tell. i'm gonna have to take them off anyway cause i have a powerworks supercharger that i'm gonna be installing here later this month. as for the other mods i think your on the right track, the VF lower mount is almost the same design and a few dollars cheaper. i have the shifter and love it.
MattZX3 02-08-2006, 06:29 AM also, if youre happy withe the stock intake, and dont have an k&n drop in, id reccommend that too. it costs around 40 bucks, and can be re-used and is made of high quality material, not paper
Daeron 02-08-2006, 07:24 AM Steeda is overpriced...get the FRPP STS (same exact part, but less expensive), FC UDP kit (2 pc kit), and VF engine mount. You'll save yourself a few bucks in the process :)
thevnaguy 02-08-2006, 08:31 AM The SCT tune and AEM CAI I did on my SVT made a difference. K&N is also good (but I got a good deal on the AEM).
jollyjohnj 02-08-2006, 08:39 AM Ben - Welcome to FF and I see the mod bug has already bit. Go with the FRPP sts.
orangecrate - does this mean your udp will be for sale? is it the 2 pc udp?
zedeater 02-08-2006, 09:56 AM I like Steeda parts but they jacked some prices this year like the STS for the SVTF went up like $20-$40 this year, and I think the SRI also went up by $20 last year. Maybe their costs have gone up, but if you have, compare their 04 brochure to their 05 brochure. I dunno, just seems like pretty steep price hikes to me.
eurotrashvrt 02-08-2006, 12:30 PM go for the gold and get suspension, a good set of coilovers or some quality shocks and springs.
There isnt a great deal you can do with bolt ons, to go, wow thats incredible. Save up for power adders, or if your not really into too much performance, just go with the suspension anyways.
..:: sleestak ::.. 02-08-2006, 01:08 PM I havent bought a thamb ding from Steeda...they just use other peoples parts and put their name on it, jack up the price.
Definitely the VF Rear Mount. As for UDPs, I would lean more towards a one piece like the Esslinger/FordRacing pulley, or Focus Sport.
The strut bar, skip it...the car is pretty solid and many people will tell you its a cosmetic upgrade. Get yourself some sways instead...most people just get a rear bar and leave the stock front (a 24/25mm rear is nice) I am running that now and love the improvement in handling. Springs and dampners are always a nice thing as well.
Last but not least...since I am telling you how to spend your hard earned dollars....get yourself a tune. Do a search and read about the improvements you will feel in the overall driveability of your car. Its a little pricey for the flasher, but you can find them on eBay, and one of the nicer mods.
Welcome to the boards, Ben!! [wave]
orangecrate 02-08-2006, 05:13 PM yeah it is the 2 pc fc kit, the pullies have only been on my car for about 1000 to 1200 miles. she is not a daily driver and i would be suprised if i have many miles since the install. i'm hoping to install the blower here soon, i'll let you know when they become avaliable. they are black one's, i got them myfordperformance.com last spring.
4 Bangin' Ben 02-09-2006, 05:04 AM Thank you all. I feel very welcomed to the forum. I was browsing the other websites and it does seem Steeda is over-priced a bit. I'll be definately doing some research here.
svt2nv04 02-09-2006, 07:08 PM ^^^ yeah do some research on this site. you'll learn a lot about what you can do, what you should do, and what's not really needed. this is a good informative site. welcome!
