^^^pretty cool, im sure when fords new crossover hits showrooms this fall it will do pretty good as well, considering its bold new styling and something not normally seen in the ford line up.

Yeah that is what I am thinking... Ford is doing wmell with the midsize and large cars / crossovers.... Maybe they will actually increase sales this year.. that would be HOT...

Now if they are finished with the larger cars.. how about some love to the compacts?
The Focus is surprisingly holding ground... keeping steay sales, but it cannot survive too long like this.

Starting off in the black is a nice thing...

Not to bust bubbles... but I think a lot of that burst in sales has to do with rental companies. Although it's a good sign when Enterprise (no contract, keeps cars) has a lot of Foci on their lot.

I drove a Cobalt BTW... no windshield wind noise, but lots of it from bad weatherstipping/ door alignment at the back of the doors. It didn't seem as peppy as the ZX4 ATX I drove way on back when that made me want to get a Focus.

Ooooh for the long investors.. F is Ford's symbol, and is currently trading at right around $8.60. There's usually a lull in prices around March, and I'd expect Ford stock to go back up to $20 or so in a couple of years for anyone interested in long term investment or savings with better returns than 3%.

Analysts would probably disagree... but there's an odd trend with analysts.. like this whole past year they only recommended Apple stock a few times, and it went from $35 in August to $86 on Jan 2. Food for thought [:D]

OK I just learned couple more details:
with 9,900 units Fusion in January outsold Mazda6, AND the NEW Sonata.

The January sales for Camry (including Solaras) is 24,000

The Sonata sales are down 30% from last year...

It seems the Fusion is on the radar and it is taking away "Value" midsize buyers... Unfortunately GM still has not released sales figures.. so we cannot see how their midsizes are doing.

I am happy.

The Taurus is still selling at 14k a month.. I think Enterprise has its car there...
As much as I heard Ford refuses to do fleet sales on the new Car models like Fusion etc...and Fivehundred etc... and is vowing to keep it up with the Edge and co.. .

I think times are good... this is not about fleet sales..

That's very nice. I do like the Fusion, I think it deserves respect.

Does Enterprise buy Fusions? They might... it was an interesting point Alex brought up. But still, we'll take positive number to those in the negatives anyday!

I have been thinking of this for weeks... I want to buy Ford stock real bad.. but am confused and agrivated at the procedure. If I bought $650 of stock 2 weeks ago, I would have made $110 this week. ( I know.. short term is no way to look at it) I want to buy it for the long term.. 10 - 20 years. I think I will do good with Ford stock.

You might want to wait a bit Vanace.. down time for nearly everyone is spring. Any major increase that could possibly happen in the spring (which I seriously doubt) will be offset by the tremendous increase that will come when new models are released in June--- if we get any from Ford.

That's my 2¢ on investing... but MO is right.. you have to do it at some point or it's all talk. I was down for a while last year.. cutting my teeth. Go in expecting that, and stick it out for the long term. Meanwhile, send me a PM sometime and I'll turn you on to a class that both my uncles have taken on investing, and that I will be taking some time in March.

This is great news. Hopefully this will open the doors for the possibility of the CI platform Focus for us!!

IT will open doors for better Focus and for better cars below focus... but C1 will prbably no make it..

there were a couple of rumors that it would happen - thet Mark Fields wanted to do it, but with the 2008 Focus already ready, and Ford not having that much money lying around - it would be waste of money...

However the new 2008 Focus is suppsed to be a HUGE improvement over the current one...
