: jrsc, yea i know...
richiejerzee4lfe 12-27-2005, 05:06 PM i was reading the focus handbook and it said that the sc was putting 204 whp to the ground. does anyone have a dyno to support this? i know powerworks and vortech are other options but i think im gonna go with the jrsc.
richiejerzee4lfe 12-27-2005, 05:32 PM "thefrush" do you like it? people down on it but the eclipse gst does a 15 sec 1/4 w/ 210 hp. it also weighs like 3400 lbs. i figure if the focus has the same hp and weighs less, itll go a little faster.

Me personaly i would go with (in order) powerworks, vortech, procharger, then jr. Because personaly i just dont like jr because it cant put out as much as the others. The powerworks is intercooled as it the vortech but in a different way. The vortech, direct bolt on to a SVT, can produce almost 100hp bolted on. The Procharger is also intercooled, but the jr is not and doesnt come with a intercooler. But if you want to more in the specs of these then go here and look for the sc that you want.
Specs for SC (http://focus.c-f-m.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=284)
richiejerzee4lfe 12-27-2005, 05:44 PM actually, jr can come with an intercooler, the big boost kit and ive seen the sc go up as far as 218whp with 13 lbs of boost, thats w/o the big boost kit. also if ford puts it on the sc, they warranty their work and its emissions legal. im not sure about the emissions status on the other 2.
SVT_BMXer 12-27-2005, 07:48 PM Def gotta go with Frush on that one. While the powerworks may be an awesome kit, the price is a tad on the high side. I went with the JRSC for two reason, 1. price 2. reliability. It is the cheapest so generally you would expect the least amount of gain from it, but also being a roots style blower, it is the most reliable. Roots style blowers are almost always what comes on cars from the factory. My car made 195whp with the standard kit, no injectors, no larger MAF and no real tuning other than the powercard. I will be ordering the BBK and a custom tune from wayne this week and expect to see about 220whp from that.

The only issue I have with the JRSC is that it doesn't make good torque, HP is great for bragging rights but Torque is what pins you to your seat, and makes the heavy pigs that our cars are get up an move.

1turbofocus 12-28-2005, 08:06 AM Look into the ProCharger its intercooled and has much more potental to grow

yea thats a good option. Like technyne said, the JRSC doesnt really add all that much torque where i think i heard somewhere the Prochrager makes like 200wtq or something.

WHOA!
did tom just offer a SUPERcharger suggestion?
i am waiting on Procharger to finish up the HO tuner kit for the SVT.
malconsSVT 12-28-2005, 10:09 AM for the price, you cant beat it
microtonal 12-28-2005, 11:19 AM Another thing to consider is that the JRSC BBK comes with a tune.
So, if you don't have a local tuner who will take the time to tune your Focus properly, then this might be your only option. I have an SCT tuner locally but they don't seem to keen on the Focus and mainly deal with muscle cars and exotics.
Also, the JRSC is CARB certified and the BBK for the JRSC is pending CARB for states that enforce emission standards.
I believe a good tune will cost anywhere from $200-600 depending on the required tuning and if you purchase any hardware(chip, flasher).

And don't forget the time on the dyno to get it right.

project2point 12-29-2005, 10:42 AM id go w/ the vortehc tuner kit w/o the aftercooler. If you are hard pressed for money then later on save up for the aftercooler that is the good thing about the vortech is you can buy the aftercooler seperate.
