: Things that make you go DUH!!!!

I got out in the garage today to install my intake manifold and intercooler that I just got back from Tom.

I'm taking my time so everything will be done right, well after getting the manifold on I decide to install a set of 4 gauge ground wires that I had setting out in the garage. Once that was done I re-installed the intercooler and made a couple small adjustment to the piping... some needed to be shortened just a bit (which worked great Tom)

So eventually I get everything installed, put the front bumper cover back on, do a few last minute checks and start the car. It took a few seconds to fire, it hasn't ran since late October... thats another long story.

Anyways I get a CEL in the driveway before I go for a test drive.... its the Fuel rail pressure. I figure since the car has been setting with the fuel rail off there was air in the line and it sets off the CEL.

While I'm driving it backfires/misses once or twice again I'm thinking... its been setting so that may be normal. I reach down and put the boost controller over on high boost...19psi (oh yea)

When I get around 17psi the damn thing misses..... not just once but everytime AND there is another CEL. So I'm thinking..... BULLSHIT!!!!

Get to a neighbors hous eto shoot the breeze... and he wants to see under the hood since he's never looked before. So I open the hood and I remember FUEL RAIL PRESSURE CEL. I start looking... no signs of leaking or any other problems.....

THEN LOW AND BEHOLD this feeling of DUH!! comes over me. When I installed the engine ground wire I unhooked the wires going to the fuel rail.... the DAMN THING WAS WORKING IN SAFE MODE[8]

By now I feel really STUPID......

I hook it back up... take off for a test drive.... and its like daylight and dark on how much better it ran.

Someday's the smallest things make me feel so.....[8]

LOL... I've noticed that 99% of the things that go wrong immediately following a repair or install of some sort are caused by something I did[:(]

I think that is one of the passages of DIY... the day you realize that you are the cause of your own suffering [thumb]

You are a lucky man if the engine is still running good that misfire was the lack of fuel no FRPS is a baaaaaaaad thing with boost

Weather permitting I may be able to get a short vid of it tommorow. It will be just a fly by..... but it will start from a stand still and I'll be running somewhere north of 110 when I pass the camera.
