: okie foci at the track
10-22-2005, 08:15 PM
Saturday 29 October at Ardmore Raceway (in Springer). A good size group from Ada will be heading down there, but unfortunately I think I'm the only focus going.
Saturday is Brad Fenton "Fun Drags" / Test-N-Tune, PITS & SPECTATOR ADMISSION - $15 Car & Driver or $5 to watch.
Also, if anyone around has slicks that will fit a focus and are really really kind, email me...it would really be appreciated!

Is it a 1/4 mile track? never heard of it. We have an event today at thunder valley in norman, and another one in a couple weeks. Wish I could make it, my car isn't finished yet, and it's my only vehicle right now or i'd be more willing to thrash it. hopefully within a couple weeks. If so you can borrow the slickers

Yeah the springer track is a quartermile track if you have a street car. Not recommended for cars pulling 10sec or faster cause the track doesn't have as much room on the end.
and you have slicks? Sweet...lemme know about what you decide...i wanna whoop my friend's firebird (3.8L NA..i need all the help i can get) and anything would help!
I wouldn't mind coming down to check it out, but I work Saturaday mornings. What time does the event start and do you know about how long it runs for?

It opens at 12...prolly go till 5 or 6.

Why not try the auto-x at Remington Park in OKC on Sunday the 30th? There will be a decent turnout of Focuses there. At least 4, maybe 5.

What are the rules for autocross exactly? I have never actually gone to an autocross track.
I'll prolly not go until I get a few things done.
I'm gonna get the poly bushing kit and the SVT suspension kit and install them at the same time. That would surely help out the handling, and then I'll head for the autocross track.

My car is pretty well set for the autox, but I dunno what scca requires you to do before hand. Any info? Just show up and run? How much is it gonna cost?
10-24-2005, 02:06 AM
Well, the OKC region is a LOT more expensive than the NEOKLA region. $20 for one heat, usually 4 runs, if you are not a member. The mods you do to your car will put you in different classes so you can easily run what you brung.
Go here to preregister and make things a bit easier:
I'd like to see a good turnout. If you don't run, at least show up so we can have a mini Ok-Focus meet. [:D]

Damn. I can't make it this time. Gotta work Sunday. I'll be there prolly next spring.

So, if anyone would like to be awesome as hell and loan me some slicks for saturday ( :) ), I will be in Norman area sometime this week getting nitrous.
Well, I work on Saturdays from 8-4PM, so I won't be coming out. If you could come by the Remington event, that'd be cool. You don't have to run. It'll finish up around the same time as the drag meet would - around 5PM or so. It really depends on how many cars run on how late it'll be. The last event ran till almost 6PM just to finish up the driving.
I'll even let you ride with me on a run if you can somehow get out there before or after work. Anyway, maybe our paths will cross somewhere... [:)]

I'll show up hopefully sooner than next spring. I work 10a-5p sunday, so I'm stuck unfortunately. Gotta factor in the hour drive or so too. You'll see me on the track sooner or later.
