: SVT "Sleeper"
2.0TooSlow 10-14-2005, 08:36 PM Ok, this is just an idea that came across my mind. What would the "ultimate sleeper" build consist of? As in, no one can tell what mods you have, even pass as stock.
Right now I have a Borla Catback and a UDP. People never see the pulley (usually cause its at night) and people blow off exhaust as a mod....since it's all too common with cars nowadays.
Heres my list:
K&N Drop-In
Rear Mount
STS
Hi-flow cat
Tune
LSD
Aluminum flywheel
upgraded clutch
Anything else that can be done to our cars without being blatant? I was thinking about a throttle body - since some people wouldn't see it below the factory airbox.
Just trying to keep my car fun on the weekends - everyone loves to see a "stock" car kick ass on friday nights [thumb]
LastRites 10-14-2005, 08:39 PM The Focus Sport cam that should be out anyday would go nicely with that list I'm thinking.
i'd throw in an jackson and paint the jackson logo black... try to keep everything in the engine bay black.... that'll look stock to other folks...
MISVTfocus 10-14-2005, 09:18 PM Get your headers coated and leave the heat sheild on, it'll cool down the engine bay. Pop a carbon fiber hood on and paint it. You could probably get away with the exhaust cam gear if you painted it and left the cover on. Also you might be able to get a SD/live wire pack as long as you get the black ones. I think with all that you'd be the ultimate SVT sleeper.
W~Phoenix~{RC} 10-14-2005, 09:27 PM I think that also having a nice SCT upgrade would be most excellent as a 'sleeper' mod. [thumb]
Cheers!
SVT_BMXer 10-14-2005, 09:33 PM i second the SCT upgrade..best non F/I mod for these cars.
BlueOvalFan 10-15-2005, 12:45 AM ride on 4 donuts i'd sleep on it! nah j/k um yeah get your throttle body.. dont take off your heat shield. get a tune and i'd say cams whem they come out.. nobody would know really..

are cams even coming out?
Svt4life 10-15-2005, 03:58 AM just do subtle things to ur car that don't draw too much attention to it. for example don't get a huge ricey can on the back of ur , debaging is also a nice way to pull of the sleeper look. Ive done some things to mine that not alot of ppl notice what i have ( ppl who dont know much about focus's)
Toolman00 10-15-2005, 10:29 AM The Focus Central throttle body is only offered in black now... same as stock. Nobody would really know the difference!
Nobody would know about the cam gear if you put the cover back on.
High flow cat would be good, but if someone looks under your car they'll know it isn't stock... it'll probably make your exhaust a hair louder, but you could probably say it's from the catback.
svt2004 10-15-2005, 12:27 PM put a turbo and keep the hood closed. with a turbo car the exhaust isn't that loud. If the blow off valve is not to loud it's all got but how to hide the intercooler??
focusonthefocus 10-15-2005, 05:27 PM you could throw on a bunch of stickers and everyone will think you're a poser. That'll make them laugh at you and then cry as you burn them.
svt pwr 02 10-15-2005, 07:11 PM You guys are thinking too small. ULtimate! This has to be the ultimate sleeper:

Paint the intercooler black, it won't hurt its efficiency and you won't see it unless you really look.
Needz_a_ZX3 10-15-2005, 08:56 PM u could go with low boost and no intercooler. tho you wouldnt make a lot of power

haha ive seen this! it was on an old st0 with some crazy v8 in it...he made up all these companies
Spec3VR6 10-15-2005, 11:52 PM dont change wheels, suspension, exhaust. theyre amazing anyway.
fokuzx3 10-15-2005, 11:58 PM save you money and get the fs cam, then get an orp...and you should be good to go

How are you gonna explain the sound coming out of the exhaust!!!!![:D]
dgualtie 10-17-2005, 12:10 PM yeah the rs8 concept is nice except one you fire it up most people would know it isnt stock. i think most of the mods have been covered to make it a sleeper

He has a hi-flow cat, no need for ORP.

He didn't specify what kind/brand his tune was, so I assumed that it was the YRF0 thing. [dunno]
Cheers!
jaykirs 10-17-2005, 01:25 PM Oh, yeah, that didn't cross my mind, my bad. lol
2.0TooSlow 10-17-2005, 07:44 PM Whoops.
That was my list as to what would the ultimate sleeper consist of, not what I have done to my car. Sorry for the confusion.
Would a TB with a stock airbox be a bad idea?
I know it's not for speed - but I could also get away with stainless brake lines too right?
SVTfella 10-17-2005, 08:08 PM keep everything black or grey so it dosent look so bright.....and S/C the hell outta it
dgualtie 10-17-2005, 08:13 PM i wouldnt think a TB with a stock airbox would be bad you still should see better throttle responce
rockthezx3 10-19-2005, 11:02 PM I'd say get the procharger. It's quiet, the intercooler isnt visible, and when you first look at the engine you cant see it, it just looks like a CAI.
