I'm looking to trade in my AUTO burgandy 04 SE sedan for a Blue 04 SVT. This SVT has 18,659 miles, looks like its in good condition. The Ford dealer wants $15,995 for it. I am just really tired of the auto tranny. Do you think this is a good deal? I will be looking to upgrade whatever car I am stuck with. Can the 2.0 SVT really get more power than the 2.3 with an auto? Here's a link to the ad for the SVT:

i was going to get a nice looking SVT just like that one. very very the same. almost the same price. but i got my ST and im glad i got it. right now i can almost kill the SVTs, i never raced them but i have raced spec V and they faster than SVTs and i hang with them very good. my car cost me 14K. id does not have the leather seats but i like the black with red a lot better. with simple bolt-ons I/H/E you can out preform an SVT. they have a better engine. but they may not be as good looking as the SVT's but they are nice and fast.

i love my ST. so if i was you i would go with the ST. for maybe less money. i dont know how much they cost over there but here they range from 14k-19k. NEW

I would definatley go for it. To me, it's an investment. The SVT is no longer in production so several years down the road they may be worth more, who knows. When I bought my ZX3, the dealer had a used Silver '04 SVT for sale but they were asking $18,000 and it had over 20k miles on it and a big scratch in the rear bumper. I could have probably offered less but I'm sure it would have still been out of the range I was looking at (you need to put some limit on what you are willing to spend). I went on Kelly Blue Book and high blue book was listed at 15k, so they were asking way too much.

NEW Your ST can almost beat them but you never raced one [?|] I have raced an ST and a SPEC V and beat both petty good. As for the purchase, go for it. You will love the SVT. Most "NON" SVT owners always get hung up on the straight line performance but the SVTF is so much more. The car is very well rounded and a blast to drive.

Yeah, I gotta go with Hellacool on this one - you can almost kill them, yet you have never actually raced one? Did I mention I can hang with SRT-4s? Never raced one, but I figure... [rolleyes]

MarksPZEV have you taken it for a test drive yet, or driven an SVT before? Do that before thinking about things much, you have to know whether or not you will even like driving the car before putting too much thought into it. Some people drive one and decide it's not for them, some drive one and are hooked immediately.

FWIW, Last September ('04) I purchased my '04 SVTF Brand New and paid $16,400. Loaded up except for the Euro Package.

IMO, you should be able to knock that price down at least a grand.

As mentioned above, drive it first and see if you like it before you worry about making a deal.[:)]

Keep in mind though that last year the SVTF was alot easier to find. Now they are almost impossible to find and dealers know this and will gladly hold on to it because someone will come along who wants it at that price. Give it a shot but dont be suprised if he doesnt budge much on price.

What he said. When the car is sitting on lots, the price then is one thing - now that there is still a market for the SVTF (see thread title[:D] ) but they are not making any more of them...you can't compare the two situations.

A couple of months ago, one just like mine was for sale at a local dealer - '03 5-door, red, loaded except for EAP - went for $16k. It had only 13,000 miles on it, but it was an '03, not an '04.

In fact, I briefly considered having a matched set. [:0]

By the way - STs will almost hang with an SVTF up to about 65 mph - then the SVT is gone - 0-100 times are almost 3 seconds apart. And that's before you get to the suspension and brakes.

Yeah, the price will actually fluctuate depending on the time of year too. I looked at an 03 SVT with under 10k miles back in February, and the dealer's sticker was $13.6k, and they were trying to convince me to haggle with them for a lower price. That was a really slow month, so they wanted the sale badly, but at the time, I didn't think I could afford it. That's when I fell in love and began saving up to purchase an SVT.

Anyway, went back to the exact same dealership (I like to visit every now and then to test drive new cars), they had an 03 SVT Focus with 25k miles and were asking right under $16k. I told them I would never pay that much.

A Honda dealership wanted to sell me their 03 5-Dr SVT with 10k miles on it for just under $15k, but I couldn't do the 5-Dr's and pay the same price (felt like I was settling with the 5-Dr version).

In the end, I got my car off of eBay (not directly, but the car didn't sell so I made my offer after auction end). The owner wanted the retro styled new Mustangs so badly, and he was just looking to part with his car the quickest way possible. I wouldn't advise buying over eBay unless you can check out the car in person.

My point is, there are a lot of options. When you start looking for a specific car, you have to be patient. If this isn't the right SVT for you, then move on and wait till the next one comes along. The best way to look at it is that you'll be better financially set and know what you really want after checking out a few SVTs. They're limited production, but you can still find them on the occasion.

Another thing I might add is that if you're not going to have extra money to invest into the car for aftermarket parts (i.e., stereo, lights, etc.), you might want to find an SVT that is loaded with extras like 6-disc CD changer with 8-in subwoofer of the MP3 CD player, the HID Headlights that everyone seems so envious of, traction control (nay on that one for my personal taste), heated seats, and possible the elusive Euro-package. Anyway, just something you should think about.

Price seems to be a bit high. Always room to haggle. I got mine back in April 05 down in North Carolina (High Point) for $16,500. Loaded (including EAP) 2004 ZX5. They had it advertised for $18,900 so do a little homework and bargain them down.

OK, i think you need to thrash this SVT around a little bit---it's a WHOLE DIFFERENT feeling! I had a ZTS and I couldn't believe the change would be as good as it is. SVT's are tighter in every way. Sorry, but I just couldn't compare the ST (woopie doo to me) for the original, and still the best body design. Test drive is a MUST!!!
