I love my car except for the bogging down in first gear. It makes me want to drive off a cliff (in 2nd gear). Is the best solution to get an aftermarket tune? or is there something else I can do. My service tech at the dealership says to supercharge it(not really an option righ now).

Are u talking about when u race or when ur driving normal? the SVTF is a tricky car to launch, you need to get a good feel for the car and try different combinations of throttle and clucth to get it right.

I don't know if the tune helps, it might......[???:)]

Unless I just creeping out of the hole it bogs. I can launch real hard and it is ok but I dont like to do that all the time. No other car I've ever owned has ever bogged this bad.

Lightweight flywheel helps alot, as well as a tune. This engine doesn't make a lot of torque NA so you gotta put all you can to the ground. A big part of it is also the fact that 1st gear is so tall.

traction control kill switch will help but i think a lot of it has to do with the tranny and clutch because in mine it feels like its riding the clutch to long when it bogs

I had the same problem. I improved it by going one step colder in the plugs (MotorCraft AZFS22CY4 ) and by going to copper plugs instead of the platinum. The bad side of this is that I lost about 30 miles per tankfull that I drove, but I have not seen anyone else complain about that issue. Before I used to get around 300 - 330 miles per tank of gas, now I get around 280 - 300 miles.

I had the same problem. Somewhat annoying when you're trying to drive it easy.

I got Hypnotic's Tune and Short Ram Intake which Definitely helped to reduce the problem. My car now has much improved low-end torque and throttle response which certainly helps when pulling out in 1st gear. Don't get me wrong - It's still NO Big Block, but it's better, without a doubt.[thumb]

Another plus is I *think* my gas mileage also improved! It'll take me a few tankfulls to really be sure though.[cool]

Too bad ya live on the other side of the country. I'd be happy to let you take it for a spin and see for yourself.[:)]

I just noticed in your signature that you own a SRT-10... And I remember your screen name...

Did you previously own a Lightning? And possibly visit F150online.com?

Yep. Still do on occasion. Actually owned a '94 L before I traded it on my '99L. Kept that for 5 years, then traded to the SRT in May '04. Also picked up my SVTF in Sept. '04.

In the past 6 months I sold my 10 second '91 GMC Syclone and my 1,008 mile 1995 Cobra R.

Guess you could say I've been 'Rotating Stock'.[:)]

As stated above the tune does help quite a bit, at least it did for me. There is still some bog sometimes but not as bad as it was stock, it used to piss me off to no end!! As well as a light weight flywheel, a UDP (underdrive pulley) will help some too. You can see my mod's in my sig, I must say that after all that, I love my car even more!! ... btw, CAI is the way to go in that department IMHO
