Well I have decided to put a cat back on the focus. I live in Ft lauderdale, so I am going to take the car to Steeda since its nearby and they have experience with my vehicle. I was leaning toward the Magnaflow 2 1/4. I have read some good things on the Borla. But here are a couple of questions.

1) At 2 1/2 for the borla and the fact that I am not going to FI, The guy at steeda was explaining to me that due to the little torque our cars put, if not going FI, 2 1/4 would give me better results

2) I had Magnaflow on my old zetec and I loved the sound it had.

3) I know that the Focus has a good Exhaust from factory. I had removed the resonator on it. Frankly, I dont like the sound and besides, the Magnaflow has only one muffler (compare to the 2 that the stock set up brings) and its less restrictive.

So, What are your thoughts on this..

My appointment is not until October 28th, so I am trying to make up my mind soon.

I'm not a big fan of the magna, I prefer the Borla. But you have a point about the size and not going with FI, so if u appreciate what the Magnaflow has to offer go for it. [thumb]

Why the RT exhaust (aka. Hypnotic Illusions)? Do you have it and can verify the .3 shaved off in the quarter mile? I seriously find it hard to believe that every exhaust out there doesn't do much, if anything in horsepower gain, yet the RT exhaust loses .3 in the quarter mile! I'd love to see a before and after dyno of the RT exhaust.

Changing the exhaust on a basically stock svtf is kinda pointless in the way of performance. Sure you're going to gain a some hp...but very little. All that said, I'm probably going to put a borla or magnaflow muffler on mine soon, lol. Just for the sound [:D]

Without hijacking the thread, if any of you get a aftermarket catback i call dibs on your stock exhausts! (at least one of them)
I would get a borla but it's just not worth it to me , it attracts to much attention it fails inspections (wich means you have to pay out of pocket to get it done @ a shop instead) and power increase wise, it's a bad bang for the buck upgrade.

Anyone know someone that has a stock SVT catback let me know.
Haven't seen any in the buy sell section in a while.
I want to get rid of my meineke temp i'm running now.

I have the Magnaflow as well. Not too much HP but the sound is nice. If you don't have a tune that would be money better spent IMO.

I've had Magnaflow and Borla, and I can say with complete confidence that Borla is much better. I think the Magnaflow is cheaper though. The Magnaflow sounds like crap with the ORP too, but I dont know if you plan on doing that.

Nah, you can get a good muffler installed for under $100 if you find the right shop :)

arrrggg I love my Magna flow. I have heard borla as well. Both sound good.

Where the [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]* did you hear this crap at?? The sound is not loud at all. I can agree with you on the gains but failing inspection?????[8] I have never heard of anyone EVER failing inspection unless they took the cat off. The Borla exhaust doesn't even replace the cat so how would it fail inspection???

Does anyone know what the magnaflow sounds like with a hi-flow cat? Sound clip perhaps? My next mod is going to be a hi-flow cat and I may go with a magnaflow cat-back after that ..... maybe

In NJ, they will stamp the form as a loud exhaust system.
Inspections are done in a hangar style building here, it amplifies the sound a lot.
I think they go by ear since I never saw them behind cars with a db reader.
I think it's retarded , since my bike is way louder then my car and they didn't give me a problem with that.

Just take out one of the resonators on the stock exhaust. Thats what I did. [thumb] I have a canister style muffler, and I get compliments from everyone. A full CAI and a 65mm TB also help with the sound. [hihi]

i personally would buy a borla but to save my $100 i am going to buy magnaflow.
i don't want another canister muffler, got pulled over too much with those in my old focus.
plus something i noticed on a friends accord with bigger piping and a canister muffler his car was loud but when compared to his upgraded greddy catback, even the can was loud it sounded shitier.

i'll say go for borla if not to save money magnaflow.

i got magnaflow when i got my car from the lot....it sounds sweet....get magnaflow!
