hey guys, my svt seems to have lost it's power in the higher rpm area... about 4k and up... car pulls great from about 2k-4k... but 4k-redline feels real weak... I have no CEL or anything... anyone know what it might be or is my mind playing tricks on me?

Mines the same its been back to ford many times for loss of power but they have not been able to solve it. Its going in a very good ford dealer next monday and they are checking to see if everything is running right! Im also getting 20% leakage on 2 of my cylinders! and 18% on others

when you find out please let me know what's up so I can check to make sure I dont have the same problem...

How'd you find out about the leakage?

Have you checked the DSI cable and made sure that it is switching over at higher RPM's?

You goto a garage and get a compression/leakage test done.... It should be between 10-15% (from ford) a number of things can cause leakage from very warn valves to rings to the car running too rich! My DSI cable is running fine i checked plus the UK st170 only changes over at 6000 rpm

Agreed, sounds like no DSI transfer

Unless the intake is stuck in high RPM mode I don't think it could be the DSI.
If the DSI lever breaks the spring in the intake defaults the intake to the high RPM runners, same thing with an IMRC failure.
The IMRC motor actually has to be functioning and holding constant tension on the cable to keep the intake in low speed mode, I suppose if the IMRC is somehow frozen in this position it could cause this issue but for the most part and IMRC/DSI failure is going to result in a lack of low end power and top end should remain normal.
What about the VCT solenoid? perhaps this could be causing the problem.

not being very good with mechanics, how do I check that?

Well, The DSI is fairly easy to check. Take a look at some of the DSI repair threads for some good pics of the location of the lever.
The cable should be pulling the lever towards the front of the car when the car is running, when the car is shut off it releases the intake and it opens to the high RPM runners.
This is also why the car loses low end power when the cable stud breaks off, as soon as the tension is released the intake should default to the high RPM runners because of the spring in the intake.
Just find the DSI lever and watch it while someone starts your car, If the cable pulls the lever towards the front when the car starts then it is pulling the intake to the low speed runners.
If it pulls the lever forward when you start it the next step would be to rev it past 5000 and see if it lets the intake open to the high RPM runners, Obviously when you do this you should have the parking brake set.
If the intake is opening and closing then you need to continue your search for the problem, I wish I could tell you how to check the VCT solenoid but that is beyond me. I think you would need real live diagnostic equipment.

Have you checked if your VCT solinoid is working properly? I might be wrong, but I am guesssing that 4000 is where it starts to play or is it "always on"?

I havent checked that... not sure how, or what to look for...

well, I just threw a CEL tonight saying I have a slow read on o2 sensor 1... would that cause that?

02 sensor going bad is what normally causes that code.
