: Got Clutchmasters FX100 & Fidanza Alumi Flywheel
Portuga 10-03-2005, 07:27 PM Already ordered both items , they should get here next week the latest.
I'm going to have a mechanic install it for me.
He knows i'm buying the parts for the car , thats why he is charging me just 350$ to get the job done.
My question is what other parts would I need to buy if any, or does the clutch kit and flywheel kit come with whatever screws and bolts are required for the complete installation?
Again the parts i got are as follows...
Clutch Masters FX100 (Clutch and pressure plate)
Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel ( 9lbs +\- )
Thanks guys![8D]
SVT_BMXer 10-03-2005, 09:19 PM pretty sure it comes with everything you need. I have a spec stg 2 and fidanza, man i love the difference the flywheel makes, revs up real fast. The only downside of it is it does rattle a bit, and when driving normal and shifting, the revs drop off faster, no biggie tho.
SVTonN2OinKs 10-04-2005, 12:12 AM I dropped off a new slave cylinder/throwout bearing assembly with my CM stg 4 / Fidanza combo. I just wanted to make sure everything was covered. I didn't want to have to replace any parts or do the labor twice. Some of the hardware will be reused. The shop should have some. BTW, the Fidanza for the SVTF is 12.5 lbs. I was in the shop when we put it on the scale. The 9 lb is the ZX3. It may be 9 lbs without the Friction plate.
Portuga 10-04-2005, 04:13 AM Good info to know .
As far as the bearing you speak of, does it have to be purchased seperatly?
What are the odds of mine beeing bad?
Thanks.
CrispyBurn 10-04-2005, 07:40 AM I believe the clutchmasters kit doesnt come with a TOB so you will need to buy one seperately... my spec came with one though...
as for it being bad now, it may not be, but they are known to randomly go out... so it's best to replace it anyway
Goat Roper 10-04-2005, 07:42 AM You can pick up the TOB from Ford for around $60, and you will DEFINITELY want to replace yours, semi-good or not. If it ever goes bad, you have to tear everything out again to get to it.
jaykirs 10-04-2005, 01:50 PM I am wondering, what is causing the rattle with these aftermarket clutch/alluminum flywheel combos! Is it the alluminum flywheel or the clutch, or BOTH?

According to the following thread, that used to be true, but newer kits are now shipped with the TOB.
At least from C-F-M that is...

Portuga 10-13-2005, 06:10 PM It came with all the parts.
Flywheel , clutch disk, with little springs in it, a plastic thing that looks like it could be a bottle cork remover, the bearing in some kind of aparatus with a spring on it and the pressure plate also.
Getting it done this week for sure.
I heard some one say i should remind the mechanic to tighten the shifter links or something of that nature , anyone care to shed some light on this?
I'm going to tell him to take his time , i want it done right and done once only.
I never want to have a problem with it again for as long as i have the car.
Thanks
PS what kind of HP increase can I expect out of it because of the alumi flywheel?
5hp / 10hp ? more ?[:)~]
texassvt 10-13-2005, 06:30 PM jaykris i was wondering the same thing. i had an 96 nissan SE-R 2.0L and did a stillen flywheel and center force dual friction and never had a problem with noise etc... loved it reved so much more quicker and once use to it made it much easier to drive and more fun. anyone have any feed back on this subject?[???:)]
Carrera26 10-14-2005, 01:06 PM Don't really look at it for a BHP increase. Think of it as a way to GET to the fattest part of your powerband much quicker. Instead of slowly wading through the midrange, it will get you up to 5K+ much quicker.
A 5.0 Mustang with a lightweight flywheel makes just a few BHP, but is 1.5 carlengths ahead of a stock 5.0 by the quarter mile.

Make sure that he bleeds the hydraulic system. GOOD. I had air in the system because the mech. didnt bleed the Master cylinder well enough. It couldnt get it into gear at all. I have heard of this happening to others as well.
