Ported heads will show Diff. gains on Diff engines and as allways what ever mods you have will also change this so giving a gain HP/TQ number wouldnt realy be fair because it may or may not be the gain you get
The best bang for the buck will be the FR head unless your going all out FI 350+HP There seems to be a very bad misconception that bigger flow numbers makes more HP/TQ and that just isnt the case
To make use of a super flowing Zetec head you will need Cams , camgears , race header , 2.5 Exh , ORP , new intake , TB , and induction system TB to filter , Tuning so in the range of 3500.00 IF you can find an intake like the FR intake then add another 500.00 to a total of 4000.00
I have an in house floe bench and have played with the ZX3/SVT for about 150Hrs each on the flow bench the problem isnt getting a very good flowing head the problem is when i didnt bolting everything to it on the flow bench killed the numbers , So why do a costly high flowing head if it cant breath in as well on the car
Then i played with the Ford Racing head the same way and for the money NO ONE`s head is going to beat it in back to back testing
Do the FR head a slight bowl blend and have fun a REALLY good flowing head will cost 450 to 600.00 more and wont make another 2 to 4 HP with all things being equal,

Ok just say I have 250hp turbo motor and 3" exhaust TB and cam gears.
Would see a difference from stock to the FR head and to your Head.
thanks

If you had 250HP with 3 inch , TB ,Cam gears on a stock head
I would say with the FR head you would gain 10 to 12HP
With my head over the FR head i would say 2 to 5
Boost doesent care about flow as much as NA does with NA it all is pulled in with the down stroke of the piston creating suction , With boost its sitting there with say 14psi ready to be pushed in
To give you an idea what im talking about , i made a best of 326HP on the ALL stock enging , NO cams , cam gears, TB did have 3 inch Exh , My built engines with 1 point lower compression are still making in the 320 range , the ported head is just enough to make up for some of the loss of lower compression the added timing from having lower compression makes up for the rest
Ported heads in most cases are way over rated flow numbers are even worse because in most cases the heads out flow the parts bolted to them or the heads are flowbenched with clay on the out side of them to create a rounding of the chamber for even better air flow numbers for advertisement , now take the clay away and install the intake and what does that do to everything , KILLS IT
I flow my heads with the intakes and the Exh manifolds hooked to the heads this way i know how the porting im doing is going to react with the parts im going to be using them with ,
I like the FR head because it is a very good CNC job , you get bigger valves and the cost is attractive at 795.00 for an out of the box head its hard to beat
