: Focus GT

Ford should have named this car the Focus GT. When I tell people it's a Focus SVT, they don't get it. So I say it's a pimped out Focus.....still not great.
But, Focus GT has a nice ring to it, and separates it from a regular boring Focus. I think I'll call it that from now on. Who's with me???[8D] [8D] [thumb]

I say PIRANHA [confused]

I say, if someone has no idea what "SVT" signifies, they are probably not going to understand any other adjective you throw at them trying to elevate your focus to a level above "the regular" focus. Who cares? I didn't buy my car so other people would be impressed.

You say SVT and then you explain that it means "special vehicles team" and that it is a unique and high performance Focus that was made in very limited numbers.

I just say "you know what the Mustang Cobra and the F150 Lightning are, right?" And then of course, they go "yeah..." with that pause like the light bulb is about to turn on, and I tell them "well, this is another of those special SVT models." And I can literally see it as they put 2+2 together "oh, so it's like, a limited production, high-performance model of the regular car?" [:D]

If they are Ford freaks..they will know, if they aren't...the heck with them...LOL

^^^lol..............yeah, most people just think i have a "hooked up" focus, only a couple people actually understand/get/care that it is different from the other focus models..............

Yea, I have had mine called a tricked out Focus, and various other things. I really think it makes people look like a real ass when you say "I have an SVT Focus" and then they are like oh..those cars are pieces of crap, and you can totally tell that they have no idea what SVT means. Most of them think they know it all and are scared to ask what it means if they don't know. It really annoys me.
Yep, people do it all the time, but you can't really blame them. We have different interests than they do. Now, posers... well, they're just lame. I had a person in my class tell me he owned an SVT Focus, but he wrecked it a long time ago. I asked when he got it, and he said back in 2001. Yeah, no SVT then, buddy, and I called his bluff.
I usually don't waste my time telling people what I drive. This is what I say, and this is what they hear, respectively: "I drive an SVT Focus." "I drive a blah blah Focus." I just prefer to show people my car that are somewhat interested, and most are surprised when I tell them everything on it came from the factory that way.
Oh well, on a side note. I ran across another person's black SVT Focus with the euro-package. I thought it was very strange running across it, but I parked next to it anyway. They never came back before I left. I'm waiting for someone to park their SVT next to mine, so I can stop being the stalker. [hatchet]

yeah, svt and gt are two different things. you tell people svt and they just assume its like zx3, zx4, se, etc. TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!! "oh yeah, my neighbor has one of those!" does it have leather racing seats and a 6speed manual? " no its an auto with cloth" they just don't listen cause they don't care. any car enthusiast will know immediately what you're talking about. if you've gotta stand there for more than a damn minute and explain it to them... do it the easy way and take em for a RIDE!!! they will see whats so special about it when you go 70 down a 40 mph off ramp in 3rd gear accelerating! just repeatedly say SVT SVT SVT SVT and they'll have the letters engraved in their brain.

hahah that's true!! i had to "drive" my friends all around the chicago just to see whats SVT!! Well they got it thats for sure after little on/off ramp sample..lmfao!! all i heard was "dude!!! slow down" or "man and THATS stock suspention!!!" of course you have to say its not its SVT!!

Man, my friends always get mad at me when I tell people I drive a focus. There always like, "its not a regular focus!" To me it doesnt really matter, if the people dont know what it is from the badge or the license plate ( BAD SVT), then they obviously dont care enough to notice. Then you get those people who always say, "its just a focus" or dis on my car somehow, then again my friends get mad at me for not defending my self with "nuh uh, its an SVT focus." I dont really care what other people know or think. I bought this car for me, not for some kid who thinks they are better than everyone else with their lebarons.
On a side note, dont kill me guys, I have been lookin at SRT-4s lately. Thinkin about buyin one, MAYBE. And the thing about it not bein a Neon? If I get one, that is exactly what I will tell people I drive.
"What kind of car do you drive?"
"Eh, a Neon."

'Piranha' all the way...

I'd rather my car say SVT on it than GT. There are dozens of other car makers throwing GT after the name of their cars in hopes of making them sound impressive, but only a select few Ford vehicles have the privelege of carrying the SVT name. [thumb]

yeah i will keep calling mine what it is, a SVT. i dont bother to explain it to people that dont know what it means, and those that do know ask me about what SVT did to the car to make it different. i usually like to show them while they are in the passenger seat.

I don't know what you're talking about, my Lebaron is off the chain!!!
I just remember when I was telling everyone I was looking at getting a Focus SVT when I started car shopping about five months ago. Everyone was like "a Focus...?" And I'd always say, "No, it's an SVT Focus." "What's that...?" And the cycle would go on.
Anyway, once I drove it home from Mississippi to Oklahoma, and my dad saw it the next morning, he was impressed just by its look. My girlfriend thought it was much nicer than what she expected, and on and on. It's just a tastefully done hatch without being over the top. I just love how it gets looks by all the ricers and respect from everyday people. It's just a nice balance of sport with modesty.

i think i acutally recieve more crap for driving an svt. "an svt, yeah i test drove one of those and wasn't itmpressed at all with the power it didn't have." or the a-hole who overheard me talking to someone about me wanting to get my windows tinted. "what kind of car is it?" an svt focus. "oh, isn't the tint going to be worth more than the car?" said the jackass in the saturn t-shirt.

And he was driving a saturn ??? HAHAHAHA!! What a tool!
