Last night I was pulling into my friends dorm parking lot when after I pulled into a spot I turned the steering wheel to straighten out the wheels when I noticed my power steering wasn't really working? It was real difficult to turn the wheel so I thought "this aint right" so I pulled out of the parking spot and did a small circle around the parking lot to see if anything was wrong. The power steering was working fine when driving but when I was in a spot it was stupid...hmm I thought oh well. I turned off my car and starting walking to his dorm thinking "well shit i'm moving on monday and now my power steering pump has to go out, perfect!". When I left I got back in my car expecting it to be gay again but nope, it was back to normal. Does the power steering pump act up like that a lot on the SVTF's? I did a search on this and didn't get much info on it so any input would be much appreciated!

Mine went outl, like you dectribe. It would give power when the engine revs were up, but at idle, no power steering. The dealer put a new one in under warranty. Mine went out in the middle of the Dragons Tail. I figure I overheated the fluid and blew the seals on the pump.

I had an issue happen to me earlier this year (you probably read my post - with no answers I might add!).
Recently my SVT has been leaking power steering fluid. I have a thread here (http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59840) in the technical chat area hoping to get some replies. I'm gonna call Ford tomorrow and see if they can check it out.

Mine was not leaking any fluid. The seals went bad, so it just didn't pressurize the fluid.

Ford's gonna take a look at it tomorrow, hopefully they let me know what the deal is and can fix it in a day!

the same thing is wrong with mine it seems to only get like that when the car warms up
you will notice if it does that again that if you take off the powersteering cap that the fluid is not circulating also i dont know if yours does this or not but mine also vibrates real bad when turning from side to side i think we need new powersteering pumps

Yeah, Ford put a new pump on mine. Too bad it was shipped too late for me to pick it up... stuck with an '05 ZX4 SE loaner. I hate the look (tan exterior & interior), hate the interior styling, and the power is ok (automatic). The one thing I miss are my HID's!
So it's the pump. [:(]
IIRC, it's a different pump than the standard models.
Anyway you can verify that with your Dealer?
At least you got it figured out.
Well, once you get your car back.[;)]

hey guys question, do any of you have sportlines on your car's? if so when mine was dropped i notice that the steering was tighter feeling. a bit harder to turn the wheel* anyways with the being lowered now will it put alot off stress on the steering pump and cause it to go out sonner than it should?? thanx

Got my car back, popped the hood and there is a new pump under the hood. It has a little plug on the front... I don't remember seeing one on the stock pump... unless the tech forgot to plug something in.
