Hey guys. Looking for a turbo and i just want to know what trim, A/R, etc.. (specs) i should be looking for in a t3.

What is your HP goal

How quick do you want it to spool

And both of those also depend on how the kit is built

typical turbo is a .42/.48 that is a really fast spool and good around 10 lbs

not to steel post but whos got the best deal on a garret Gt28 turbo with t25 housing any one know?really want that turbo!!!!

t3 will do all you need and is more common. i really wanted a gt turbo but tom steered me away

so the T3 is the way to go? does it spool pretty fast what rpm you guys getting full boost at?

also i have a full 3" exhaust except for the downpipe want to get either a 2.5" or 3" which should i go with? for the t3 that is....

GT28RS's do spool fast, you'll get 18psi around 3.5-4k revs. i dont have any experiances with t3s on focus's but i know on ca18dets they start getting positive boost around 3k and full boost around 4.5k (but then it depends on the A/R)

t3 should be at full spool around 3000 toms can tell you better. he builds a 3 inch downpipe

i believe you're only supposed to run something like 8 or 9 psi on a stock engine...........

I have the GT28RS with the .86 AR and it starts making boost as soon as you hit the gas. I see full boost around 4 - 4.5k but thats also 19psi.

i think it also depends on the turbo, 8psi on a t3 will produce more power then a gt28r on 8psi, i have a gt28r and at 6psi it produces 200BHP/170WHP and been told leaving the internals 260BHP would be fine and that would be around 15psi . although i now have the gt28rs (.86) and hoping to run around 350BHP (flywheel) but i have diamond pistons and crower rods so it wont go bang

your spool depends on your a\f the smaller you go the less power you would build, but it would spool quick.

.84 is large. if you had a sr20 i can see that.

to figure correct a/r for your engine you need to know how much air is puching out of the manifold

i love the "disco" that has to be one of the best turbo for small motor. but can you lose a arm for one.(not cheap at all). i think they are easy better than the old t3. just my thought about it.

if you want a t3 get a bb t3, very nice.

You talk about the old t3 yet the old t28 is now with BB and a dunb A$$ name = GT28RS

I have customers that have the GT28RS that didnt spool any faster than my custom turbo and not as fast as my custom turbo with BB

Just a plain T3 S60 STG1 , II or 111 .48 will out do most anything on the Focus

b\c he has a .84. put a .48 and see what it spool at. i beat it would be a big differnce.


i would take a gt28rs, over your turbo. plus, they have poven #'s well over 300, and it is a smaller turbo than yours, what are you trying to say, tom?

Im saying NO ONE has taken a GT28RS to over 300HP at the wheels on a Focus that i know about anyway , will it , Yes i think it will but a STD T3 S60 STG2 will do that for 720.00$ New

Why would you take a turbo with a few months warranty (very limited) that is 2 times the cost and at best will only spool about 250 to 300RPM sooner , Over one half the cost , 1 year unconditional warranty and spools 300 or less RPM , thats silly

what does ur turbo spool at? because i have seen the gt28rs spool around 2200 - 2400 and sometimes less than that.

what does orangesvt04 have?

I am taking it that you have seen this on a Focus ? Because i havent , I have seen 2800 to 3000 on smaller trim GT28RS

i think he is saying that the t3 suoer 60 is a alot more common, cheaper and proven, overall a better more versatile turbo. the disco potato is an awesome turbo since it was refabbed but has old technology and old compressor maps

i know that. but just think it is a smaller turbo, and make as much or more than that turbo. for a all round turbo i would take a disco

i know, you wouldnt make that much power with a .48, but i would go with a .64. it would make power and still spool quick. try it tom? or are you scared it would still make more power.

I knew you couldn't forget about me, being the big pain in the ass that I am[:D]

I have seen dyno's of Tom's turbo laid over mine, they were real close in how fast they spooled.... but the damn t3 made more torque and mine made higher HP.

I would trade some of my top end HP for some lower end TQ anyday[thumb]
