Hello, this is my first post on the forums.
I would love to do this mod, I'm not clueless as far as electronics is concerned but I just bought my first car (2000 ZX3) and am not familiar with car wireing. How are the lights powered? The battery? If so, how are the cables run to the battery and their connections?

I run all my accesories of the battery. I drilled a hole in the clutch plate casue i have an automatic. Used 16 and 18 gauge multistrand (easier to bend) wire. and cought switches at walmart.
I get all my lights from Oznium.com

if ur gonna do under your dash, just get some cathodes ... its so much better than neon tubes, cathodes are like... 1/4 the size of a big neon tube. probably smaller than that...and they are just as bright as a 12" neon.
PM me if u want some details, i'll have pics of what i did thsi weekend

Thanks for the replies.
I have everything set as far as the equipment and wiring is concerned with the exception of the know-how on how to run the wire(s) from the battery to, say for example, under each seat, to each air vent, under the dash near the pedals and the passenger side? I have tried to get access to the firewall of the car to see if I could slip in some wires through them but haven't been able to find a spot for it. Is there an easy way of getting the wire from the battery to the inside of the car/in the dash?

for under the seats i just ran it along the center console. for the dash it's pretty easy when the drivers side is the easiest for you to bring the wires in on the drivers side. I just ran the wire across to the passenger side between the the center console and where the bottom of the radio bulge is. (wires slide nicely between them) no idea about the vents. I'll grab a pic of where i brought my wires in tomorrow when there's more light.

I have some LED accent lights in the front on the driver and passenger side. I just ran a wire from a fuse(I used the parking light fuse) on the drivers side and did what one of the other guys said and just ran the wires between the radio bulge. Get something you can wrap the wires around and they should just push right through to get to the passenger side. You may blow a fuse a couple of times so I would have a couple just laying around, but this is a quick and easy way to do it. Not real pretty unless you tidy up the wires. But easy

Yah you guys need to use ccfls aka cold cathodes, they run about 11 bucks or so for 2 12" shipped at svc.com under lighting. Mainly used for comps, but the have the same voltage lines as cars I believe.

I used Streetglow Optix neons. Ive got six total in the car. Two 6" tubes under the dask, two 4" tubes in the back, one 4" tube in center console, and one 12" tube in trunk. They are not hard to wire. I am working on a HOW TO, and i will post it soon. Here some pics of mine.

Come to think of it, I won't be attempting this mod until I find a how-to to guide me along with it. Please let me know as soon as you get yours done. [:)]

it is a relatively simple mod if you know what you're doing. just make sure you do it right the first time. one major thing, take your time and make sure you have a plan of what you are doing and where to run the wires and how you're gonna power it. there are several different ways to do it. not neccesarily one better than the other. however the most popular one if wiring into the fuse panel under the dash. just get an add a circuit and use that, its easy fast and simple. i ran all my wires for neons under the seats through the carpet where the cutout is. it takes time yes, but i didn't want anyone to ever see a wire, even if you were looking for one. if you need some more help let me know.

I would like to know what do you hook up the wires too,and what switch?a aftermakret one or hook them up to the on switch for a/c or something, but that wouldnt be to smart for the winter time
