I need an opinion. Should I go turbo? My friend got and intercooler BOV manifold, everything but a waste gate for. . . . drumroll $275, $275 I almost shit my pants when I heard that. I can get a turbo and an intercooler and BOV for less than 300 no actual price is going to be said online. So should I go turbo or not what are the drawbacks??

Well if you're getting everything but the wastegate for $300 I'd be suspicious of the quality of the parts. Typically the turbo is the most expensive part of any kit, and almost always costs more than $300 unless you're looking at used parts.
Even assuming the parts you get aren't junk, you still have to figure in MIC, tuning and installation which will probably run you somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500+. You cannot just bolt a turbo on and expect it to run without killing the engine without proper tuning.
I'd suggest posting in the Forced Induction or Focus-Power subforum...
I know the guy who had the stuff, he just had the turbo rebuilt. no I thik all I need is a wastegate and a manifold. but yeah II can get it tuned and installed real cheap, because I hang out with people that work in shops.

then id say go for it, but so alot of reserach using the search tool before you dive in, get to know what others are doing with DO-IT-YOURSELF turbo setups and find what mistakes have been made so you dont make the same ones. i researched for 6 months before i started my kit

Has the guy doing the tuning done a turbo on a Focus before? I've heard horror stories along this line; "my friend's friend tuned my turbo, and I got about three miles before I threw a rod."

Id say get a FULL parts list of everything he has , then sit down and do a parts list of everything needed , I think the needed list will be much longer and far more costly , look at the big picture before jumping in
