I was thinking of buying some adjustable cam gears before I get a tune done. i have the mods listed below so far. Question is...is it worth the power gain to buy the cam gears also? Another question is, is that I don't think buying a hypnotic tune or any other off the shelf tune will do good with mods cuz aren't they based on a stock setup? I was thinking of oging custom tune if i buy the cam gears. Thanks!

Hypnotic's tunes are far from "off the shelf". He does a great job of tweaking the tune to your specific setup and will work with you until it is done right.

From what I've read, the cam gear won't be as tremendous of a gain as a tune will be for you. If you aren't sure about the gear, get the tune first. I know you'll be happy with what the tune will do for you.

I have a gear (-3*) and waynes tune...the combo is awesome. DO EEEEET! Its under $100 and easy to install...even if its worth a few whp, its worth it cost to power.

How much more were you able to get out of the tune with the cam gears? Also, how is Wayne supposed to customize your tune with the gears? Does he tell you where to set it?

Oh yea, and you don't need both gears? I suppose only the inatke cam is necessary due to the V VT?

There is a VCT elim out there somewhere (I think Tom was playing with it) if you wanted to do both gears.

Wayne is pretty flexible with working on your tune. If you can find a dyno and setup a time with Wayne, I'm sure he'd do your stuff over the phone as you make adjustments and give him the dyno results, he emails you the new tune, you upload, repeat process. He's been working on/with our cars for quite a while, so he knows WTF he's doing [:D]

will cams (stage 2) and cam gears require a tune? or can you simply dyno adjust the gears?

you'll probably need a tune just to keep the from dying at idle. you'll also be able to take full advantage of the cams with a tune, and get even more out of them with a set of cam gears

yes, cams and cam gears will require a tune to get full use of the power.

I want to get a custom tune done cuz I wanna see dyno results, not just plugging in some tune and saying "gee it FEELS faster." I actually wanna see the proof. Too expensive to pay for a tune, then go to a dyno and pay more money for that. Just want it all done in one sitting. My local shop uses diablo and SCT software, so i'm sure it'll be ok.
