Hey. I have a 2005 Focus zx3 SE. I love it to death stock. But I know I will want a turbocharger towards the end of the year after Im done paying off classe.. My question is is there any way to retain the warranty with a turbo installed? I know the answer is usually no. But at the Ford Customer Care center/shop, the guy told me anything installed by them (dealer/factory) can be covered under my warranty, except the nitrous he pointed out that they sell. In the warranty guide, it says any turbo/super would void the warranty. But then it has some language as to say Ford manufactured/Installed parts would be covered. Im pretty sure the answer is no but you never know. They had a Zetec turbo among other things for sale at the shop to. The thing with the warranty is I need my warranty in case anything goes wrong. But I want FI. I know I could take it out in case I needed warranty work, but itd be a PITA. Id run safe boost (7 psi or less) so I dont think I would screw up my car. It is a daily driver also. Any suggestions?

if for some reason the engine blows...they and if they somehow prove its was the turbo fault...you are screwed...

hey posi...you've been by sheehy performance haven't you? I work there, not for the performance desk, but for the regular maintenance side of the business. the turbo kit we have is from precision, and while it's a decently designed kit, it doesn't really offer much in the way of tuning, and I can guarantee that the hp numbers are exaggerated. the warranty issue you're probably going to want to descuss with the service manager at the dealership. they do allow some things, but they don't allow others. good luck!

also, if you're driving an 05 focus, you do not have a zetec motor. the 05 and up focus has one of three engines, a duratec 20, a duratec 20E (PZEV motor), or the duratec 23 (ST motor, 2.3 liter). the turbo kit we have in stock is designed for the zetec motor, not the duratec, so it will not bolt up. your best bet is turbo tom.

Hey thanks for the responses guys. Pio- figured with less than 7 psi I wont blow my engine (knock on wood), or I could take it off (PITA definitley)before warranty work.. No SC/TC for Duratec 2.0 out yet (except that used 2.3 turbo on ebay a while ago), so maybe I should wait to see the different setups. Crazy-yeah, the place right next to Toys R Us. Thats awesome!! I know the turbo was for a zetec, but I was saying they sold it right there so it was kind of weird. I got my Zx3 at Sheehy from Matt. They were awesome but I havent gotten the pleasure of visting their service department. Have you? I guess it might be different since you work with them but I dunno. Theres also that Ford place I see drivin home from work on the Pike everyday, if Sheehys no good Ill go there.

the problem is...
that if you any engine problem....
they will blame the turbo and they will do whatever they can to void the warranty on engine parts...

they would still have to give you paint, interior, MAYBE suspension and drivetrain components (this could also be voided because of the turbo)
