: High-flow cat
oh-la-la 05-24-2005, 11:40 AM Hi
Im about to change catalytic on my SVT coz it has noise from inside and i already checked to Ford and they said it's under warranty but i have to pay $100 for deductible anyway. Now lm thinking to get a hight flow cat now coz im willing to pay more for higher performance but i went to a local muffler shop and they said there are no high-flow cat for Focus.
Is this true,if not where can i get it?
thanks
goode2222 05-24-2005, 11:54 AM To my knowledge there ARE high flow cats for the focus. Not sure about the SVT I have never installed or bought or even looked into one, i think i just remember seeing a thread about it. you may want to do a thread search to help you out. hope everything works out. best of luck.

crazymechanic 05-25-2005, 08:11 PM the converters on our cars carry an 8 year/80,000 miles emissions warranty. this warranty is backed by the federal government - EPA. if you are under 8 years/80,000 miles, they have to replace it AT NO COST if it has failed.

Yes, i have heard about that too but this morning i called to 2 local ford dealer and they said the same thing that warranty doesnt cover catalytic converter.
If you can tell me how can i find the article to show them i would really appreciate.
thanks

I believe that it is in the warranty information that came with your car if you bought it from the dealer. It may also be online at www.ford.com. Your dealer should have copies of all warranties issued by Ford. Just ask the service managers. It sounds as if they might be trying to pull a fast one and get double paid ( you + Ford warranty) on your cat.
essveetee 05-25-2005, 10:12 PM Thats BS, Ford has to replace it. As crazymechanic said, its mandated by the EPA. When you are the MOR (Manufacturer Of Record) for a fuel/emissions system, you need to warrantry critical parts for the duration set by the EPA. No questions asked, unless its obvious you messed with it (which it doesn't sound like you did...)
JRSVT04 06-06-2005, 01:23 AM yeah sounds like they are trying to stick to u, and u let them they will

blacknfastsvt 06-06-2005, 03:08 AM any performance gains? how many extra hp approx
essveetee 06-06-2005, 08:11 AM Can you post a soundclip/video? I'd like to hear how it sounds.
SVTkonig 06-06-2005, 04:03 PM [?|] First, there is no such thing as a high flow cat. Go talk to someone who doesn't sell them. Second, the cat can be you friend you know, as long as they stay under the floorboards where they belong. it's when they nuzzle up to the block they start robbing power. They give you back pressure that does wonders for low end torque. Besides the svt flows better than pretty much any car as is. If your at a loss for hp, the cat is not to blame, it's the flywheel.
S281sc 06-06-2005, 11:07 PM Just to let you guys know i just took my car to get service and i was told that my cats were bad, but that i had nothing to worry about that they where cover under warrenty. So who ever is telling you guys that they are not coverd needs to check with ford or he/she dosent know what their talking about. i had my cats changed no questions asked.
