: Confessions of a G-Timer User

I knew the Focus handled pretty well, but when my Dad got a G-Timer by Escort, he put it in his Porsche first, and was flying around town... ended up pushing 0.96 lateral g's...

So I put it into my car next, and we set the program to do a quarter-mile sprint. When the program was ready, I floored it, and got 1/4-mile in 17 seconds... Could've done better, if it weren't for my wuss of a father. However, 0-60mph was 9.9secs... wow...

Then we datalogged a trip. I went towards my job using the same roads I use on my way to work. Acceleration rate was 0.45 gs, and when dad asked me to slow down, I jammed on the brakes, achieving -0.65 gs. However, one of my favorite areas is a really sharp left-hander that has a sign that 25mph is a good speed through this corner... nah, I'll enter the turn at double that! Through the turn, the car continues to decelerate to 40mph, and I floor it getting out. The lateral gs for that turn exceeded 0.8 gs!!!

But yesterday, I had to pick my dad up from the train station, and I entered a cloverleaf to get back onto I-84 from I-684 in Brewster. We didn't have the G-Timer with us, but I kept my foot on the gas the entire way. Kept it above 50mph the entire time, the gs felt really bad... will have to try it with the G-Timer sometime!

All this and my car is bone stock!

Anyone else have any Performance Datalogger stories?

I have a G-Tech. In my Lexus my best was .91 lateral, 7.22 o-60, and 15.27 1/4 mile.

I need to do a baseline for the focus before I start adding mods.
