Hey everyone let me explain whats going on. The other day when I was installing my vf rear mount I noticed some type of oil on the bottom side of my transmission. At first I suspected the engine oil drain plug. Well upon further inspection I found that my drain plug was secure and not leaking. Well then I started freaking out thinking that my tranny that ford had already worked on for the clutch tsb was leaking from a faulty seal or something. Well I took it to Ford the next morning and had them check it out. Well they came back and said that it was my front axle leaking and that they didnt have the part to fix it but I could still drive it around without hurting anything. Well this all was last thurs and they are "SUPPOSED" to have the part in tommorrow morning and I will be without my car for a few days. Has ANYONE else had this happen to them? Has anyone ever heard of this before? Are they trying to cover something else up maybe faulty labor or something becuase I have never heard of this problem before with anyone elses.

well, when i was installing my VF engine mount, I noticed oil on the front side and bottom of my transmission, too. I freaked and ended up tracing the source to my valve cover (driver's side) The dealership had to order some parts and replaced mt valve cover gasket and VCT solenoid.

never had an axle problem. What kind of oil would be in an axle??? If anything, I would figure it to be grease. hmm

Had that happen on our old Plymouth Breeze (axle seals had to be replaced). No idea why it happened though, just know that we have had that before.

I noticed some oil the other day. My mechanic told me it was a seal leak. i Wish i could be more specific, but it sounds like it is in the same spot as yours. i am planning on taking it in next weak.

I had exactly that happen. The CV boot ripped somehow (I saw a scrape marking exactly where the axle inserts to the transmission on the metal of the trans mind you like they dropped it on the floor!!). It is fine, the grease came out of the boot area. I also figured this out when putting on my VF. They also did trans work about 3 months ago for a new clutch. Crappy techs. They ordered mine and got it in a day and put it on.
