: homemade turbo...almost done

ok heres what i have done so far, i have the Turbo,Header,Bov,Injectors,Diablo MAFia Tuner,Boost Controller, and a down pipe for a ZX3, i know i need the piping to connect all this together, just wondering what else i need, i know i am going to need a Tune to make it work better, and the turbo is set to 4 Psi stock. i do have a 2002 SVT Focus, so any USEFULL input is what i need.

The big thing you will need is some way to read AFR ( lambda ) and get it correct...so the motor stays in one piece..and make sure the turbo gets a good supply of oil.

so what i am asking is this, i know i allready need Piping, and a HANDHELD Tune for my car, i am asking what else would be good to check into.

fuel mods & I think you might need an excalibrator flasher chip.
what turbo did you end up buying? Garret T3?

That will change.............. this shit gets expensive. After you start tuning you'll start seeing the weak points in the car like the clutch, motor mounts, maybe a rod or two if your not careful while tuning. You'll start looking at other parts and then you'll think "hmmmm that would be nice to have" Its a never ending spending spree...........

maybe im missing it? What kind of manifold are you using or you doing a complete custom one and do you plan on doing SCT Xcal for tuning?

i have a manifold i picked up off ebay. and for tuning i have the Diablo MAFia, and i will use the Diablo Handheld tune, there is a Tuning Shop close to me that has a dyno and is setup for for Diablo software

trust me get a kit I tried to come up with a custom plan and it just ends up being a huge headache because remember you also need tune and basically a new transmission

Um a kit doesn't come with a new transmission so.... I think a custom turbo route is not cost effective or wise if it is your first one. But if you have already successfully turboed a car with a homemade kit then you should be fine. Thats the position I am in now.

I would do a chip iceman, SCT is the best way to go although, I am happy with my Diablo revolution 3 program chip, I highley suggest a CHIP!! even though ur doing 4 psi.

i cant do a Chip the SVT uses a ECU that has to use Tunes, and with the Diablo Handheld it will work best with the MAFia. you have a ZX2? do you post on Teamzx2.com?
