Ok Im probably not going to go this route but it wouldnt hurt to ask. Ok so a while back when I was set on getting a turbo I found a place that would make me custom forged pistons for like 5 to 600. Well I got pretty happy and thought hehe sweet now just need some cams and everything else to run some sweet boost (25-30lbs). Well I read a while back that Tom said (and I might be wrong) that stock cams are the best for fi. Now if u get the pistons and some forged connecting rods to match would u be able to run big boost?[???:)] Or do u really really need the sleeves and everything else to make the big boost numbers?

Keep the stock cams,svt stock connecting rods are already forged steel made by manley good for about 500hp.
Pistons probe makes good forged pistons 8.2:1,but that's for the zetec head .svt head is a bit shaved so you are looking to drop the compression from 10.2:1 to 8.6:1 with probe pistons.[8D]

svt head is not shaved. the compression increase is due to the different piston design

The rods are not manley, There just plane Ford forged rods , I dont know if i would want to try for 500 on them

If the rods are that weak why you pushing 300+whp on your car.
Ford does not have pistons with 10.2:1 compression for the focus,try to order them from your local svt parts store.

I never said they were weak , I said i wouldnt want to try 500HP on them , There is a big jump in load from 320 to 500

here's a quote from sport compact car magazine, and their information came straight from ford. by the way, I'm also an ASE certified ford mechanic, and I've been messing around with these engines quite a bit lately, I know a good bit about them.
"Lightweight, cast-aluminum pistons bump compression from 9.6:1 to 10.2:1."
even in ford's workshop manual on the focus, where it lists everything different between the standard zetec and the SVT engine, it says that there are new pistons to achieve a higher compression ratio.
as for ordering from your local svt parts store...just ask them for SVT specific pistons instead of standard zetec pistons. that'll give you the higher compression pistons
