seriously, i'm about to create a subdomain and host a site called http://ihatesrt4.fosho.org... possibly list the plates that are on my sh!tlist. Naw i dunno about that.

It's not the car's I have a problem with... it's the drivers.

There is honestly no reason to go Full throttle in a dense traffic area at 10am in the morning. I almost got hit, but luckily I saw the bastard.

Solo street-racers who aren't racing against anyone and just showing off is just basically a cry for attention.

Luckily I found another srt-4 driver but he was an older guy and much more mature. calmed me down quite a bit, but still needed to vent in general discussion.

I know what you mean... Ricers that don't know when to go Full TB ,, and they just do it on the wrong place and the wrong time.. then an acciden happen and then the people that like cars and like to do mods and stuff get the blame. and when cops sees you they stop you for no reason just be cause you have a nice looking car that is fast.

Yup. That's what I have said.

All these people buying them are young kids and they don't know how to handle all that power in that little thing.

true that its kids like that gives us SRT-4 owners a bad name definatly not the car its the driver.

I've only ran into one SRT-4 guy on the road and I've told the story of that on here before. But he was really cool in that we split the distance between our three lanes of open road and just cruised for a few miles down the main drag where I lived in Colorado. No stunts, no engine revving, just two bad assed black sport compacts enjoying driving. So yeah it's not the car it's the owner but we all know that. I'm sure that there are a good number of Focus guys driving like ass all the time too.

I'm not too concerned....SRT-4's are being wrecked faster than they are being built, it seems....

...give it a few years and that model (and the drivers who buy it) will render themselves all but extinct.

hey hey hey guys!
There are some crazy focus drivers too. There is one that lives near seattle, it's blue and has a fake duel exhaust. This guy drives like a mad man down I 90. I have seen him three times and he almost hit me twice.

But I also agree that I hate the cobalt, cavilier, neon, and I really hate VW's. in seattle it's what all the yuppy preppy people drive. They think they own the road because they drive a VW. I think they are great cars so I just hate them in washinton for some reason.

One of these days i'm going to buy an SRT4 just to see how many Focus owners get pissed about it.

Some owners may be stupid, but you can't argue with the potential that the SRT4 has.

Foci_Fosho

I too wouldn't mind having one... But i think i'd opt for the Mazdaspeed miata.. yea, it's like 4-6k more But totally outhandles the srt-4... and to me that's important.

I wonder If 50 shot of nitrous along with cam's, header, ecu relash on my duratec would bump me up to equal power/weight ratio to that of the srt-4.

I'd love to put some of show-off's in their place.

yellowbean00

miata huh i think the SRT-4 ACR edition will give it a run for its money.

I think the styling is sooo dated. It is just the same old 90's Neon just shinier and souped up a lil... Like, I just saw that one persons on here and it just looks too boring to me. Old styling = boring.

But it's fast so I guess that's okay.

K, rambling has come to a conclusion... carry on.

srt-4 rims are quite unique... I'm just kinda wondering how well these cars will be in 5-10 years after production... I suppose that just depends on the driver.

My focus being a duratec 2.3l... I can see lasting until 2015 at least.

I only drive hard 10-15% of my daily driving... I bet srt-4 folks are about half and half... Much more wear and tear I know because they show off everytime I look at one.

What kind of warranty do those carry?

I was literally run off the road by an SRT that was trying to race me in my last car. My car was totalled and he took off. Luckily my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) and I were generally unhurt.

Power + low price + low maturity = me spewing lots of four-letter words.

All cars have bad drivers, but I do see your point. When you buy something with that much power stock, then it is easy for kids to afford it. With the focus, you have to put money into it, and to make money you need to have a job, and to have a job you have to be of a mature age (most of the time) therefore we see less foci on the road acting like tards because we actually put a lot of money/sweat/blood into our cars while the srt-4 is made fast off the market.

aside from power, what else do they have going for them? they arent the best looking cars, imho, and on top of that im not to impressed by the flashy rental car interior look... its ok though cause i think theyre being chopped soon in favor of this here monstrocity:

http://www.thecarconnection.com/Enthusiasts/Spy_Shots/Spy_Shots_06_Dodge_Neon_Replacement.S178.A8054.html

and once the source of srt4's is chopped, dont expect the preowned onces to last long themselves with the way they are killing themselves off.

I own an SRT-4 myself, and I must say that you guys are right. When I had my old car, those guys would always drive by in the Target parking lot and rev their engines to show off. However, I was always like "Wow, wish I could get one." I think they're great cars for the money, and I've got no issues with them. By the way, all of the 2003's (that's what I've got), come standard with a 70K warranty :)

Now I want everyone to know that I am here on this fourm for discussion and nothing I say should be taken as a personal attack or put down.

I think that some of the statments here are no more mature then driving 90 mile an hour in morning rush hour barreling by countless people on their way to work endangering others.

But when you're trying to hate on something, hate on it not because of the way it acts. I don't see a whole lot of these drivers around here infact I finally saw an EVO today. I think I saw 2 SRTs total this week. 1 SVT Foci just to from work, and trust me I have an eye for these things as most of us do probally.

Anyways when you're doing that why do you automatically attack all the drivers? I see people in SUVs such as especailly the EXPEDITION model drive like retards and all over the place plowing thru traffic as if they get in an accident who cares they got the titanic, who cares about that chick in the Hyaundia Accent they might hit. You see retards in all model cars, whom are showboating whom are crying for attention. What about all the good people in these cars you're automatically discrediting them in a way. Thats not mature at all. I have a freind whom I talk to quite often via internet whom has an SRT-4 hes mature enough I know not to drive around like a complete [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)], some people track there cars folks.

Hate on the car for its mechancis, don't hate on random drivers you dont know. It just kills me to see some good people be paraded around as animals and evil dooers (sp? duers dooars?) just because they own a turbo neon.

I do not like people who drive around with complete disrespect for everyone including most of all theirselfs for driving like a maniac. I don't like it at all SRT-4 Drivers to Hicks in lifted trucks. We could target any car subculture and say they all drive like manaics but thats not true at all lets realize that.

Oh yeah btw. If you're gonna add stuff to the SRT-4 vrs a MazadaSpeed Miatia umm add it to the Mazada. I don't think a highly modded MSM would ever do poorly against a SRT-4

yea, i test drove one to see all the hype... it was pretty fast and what not, but wheres the handeling? i slid the car on an off ramp at 60. i can take that same ramp in my focus at 85. i dont know... imo, throw a turbo in a focus, like roush plans to do, and then see how it works. im just waiting really. hopefully roush wont let us down.

I have a turbo focus with Tom's full kit and i love it.... Like i said before, people that really appreciate cars and love racing the right way get a bad rap,, because this ricer wannabes, that think they could just go fast on the road and people would just get out of their path. That's why i leave my addrenaline for AutoX, so i don't act like those ricer wannabes!!!

srt4 or neon srt4 why a company like dodge is trying to hide the true name of the car .This car is sharing many parts from the pt cruiser turbo. The inside is made off rubber I don't blame people when they are switching to imports .To me a car is all about balance not only straight line performance you can see it in the front suspension of this car zero camber and taller side wall of the tires. In terms of sales it did well better than the svt focus[8D]

To put a different perspective on it, Foci_Fosho and I both live in the SF Bay Area, which is a HEAVILY populated area and cars are a central element of the lifestyle here. There are probably more SRT-4's running around in just one city here than there are in several cities combined in a less-populated area of the country. It's proportional - if there's two SRT-4's in your area, it's not too likely both drivers are going to be immature jerks. But if there's twenty SRT-4's in your area, there's a greater chance at least a couple of those drivers are going to be immature jerks.

I've experienced plenty of retarded SRT-4 drivers. I dare say more retarded ones than "normal" ones. But there are SRT-4 drivers who know when the right time to use that speed is. There's several people who go to my school that drive an SRT-4, and one of them I've actually PASSED on the freeway on the way to school, while driving my 1984 Mazda pickup truck! So there are SRT-4 drivers that know how to behave. [:D]

The SRT-4 really does cater to the immature type- the styling, the entire premise of the car... and it's cheap, more or less. Down at Highway 100 (area for racing on weekends), there's a very significant population of SRT-4's, and I'd bet money that the majority of the people driving them have had their license for less than 2 years, or even less than one. And if you're driving that much power, you really should have more experience because more power can subject you to numerous problematic situations where the only thing that'll save you is either driving school or just plain experience.

I myself would probably not get one because I know that I might abuse it at the wrong time given a potential lack of judgment. I love my SVT, and with time I'm continually chipping away at it performance-wise, seeing where the limits are. With an SRT-4, I'd probably be too inclined to spool up that turbo and end up going too fast where I shouldn't be.
