When I drive my focus up a hill and barely have my foot on the throttle, it starts cutting out and spitting and sputtering really bad. I am thinking that I have the wrong gap on my spark plugs. So I was wondering if any one could tell me any suggestions of what to gap them at. The factory specs say .50, and right now mine are set at .38.[?]

Yeah, I'd pull the plugs out and take a look at them. What made you put a gap of .38 on them? Could be plug wires too!

If we are talking part throttle that you can stand .050 to .060 gap with the jrsc it wont be till WOT and large rush of air till the plugs flame can be blown out , For wot you can go to .035 to .040 and be fine
I would have your tune looked at , My guess would be lean or rich condition under part load
