: Mustang Nail Polish? WTF?
Kneel 05-02-2005, 02:31 PM Who's brainchild was this? Mustang Nail Polish? WTF?
OPI, the leader in professional nail care, has teamed up with Ford to offer three high-octane shades of Nail Lacquer, available starting in June. "Revved Up & Red-y" (a dark red that's ready for the fast lane), "You Make Me Vroom" (a hot red that leaves no "vroom" for doubt) and "Gone Platinum in 60 Seconds" (a cool silver that goes from zero to gorgeous in a flash) will get consumers' nails to the winner circle.

revamp 05-02-2005, 03:06 PM you guys would be surprised to see how popular mustangs are with the ladies...
...Ford even markets girlie-T's with the mustang logo and the phrase "I want a pony!"
i'd bet around here half of the 'stangs I see on the road are driven by women.

Agreed! Especially if it's the V6 models. I'd say that 85%+ of those are driven by women.
rfinger 05-02-2005, 03:54 PM you have got to be kidding me...........lol
fritotec 05-02-2005, 03:59 PM [driving]tomh is right, the mustang is very popular with the ladies [read]

You'd be right... and it's not just where you live. More than half of all Mustangs sold, are sold to women. 70% or so of the V6 Mustangs are sold to women, in particular.
Having said that, I dunno how many women would buy this nail polish. It's kinda pathetic, like they're pandering to women. Might backfire like back in the 1950's when Dodge tried to market a special car just for "the ladies" and it bombed because the ladies were insulted.
revamp 05-02-2005, 04:09 PM i wouldnt put it past some women to want their nails to match their car....
at any rate, it's all about marketing. We'll see what kind of ads Ford can come up with for this stuff. Either way, I dont really see me buying it...but I'm not your average chick, either.
Kneel 05-02-2005, 04:13 PM I'm with you, SVT4ME. And I think revamp may not be that weird of a chick. I don't think most women buy Mustangs to match their nail polish or vice versa, and are probably drawn to the car's machismo or performance rather than its feminite attributes (not sure what those are anyway).
SVT4ME 05-02-2005, 04:23 PM Buying nail polish to match her car is something my sister would do, but she's 16 (not your average age for a new car buyer) and a total girly-girl. I don't see the average adult female Mustang buyer being so into her Mustang that she has to run out and get Mustang nail polish.
Lil PZEV 05-02-2005, 09:49 PM OPI makes really good polish, they seem to have an insane marketin dept though...
I think a few years ago they got really big into the "color-changing" polishes, and had all these huge butterflies all over the ads and stuff... I dunno they're wacky.
If you like the color that's cool, but I can't see anyone buying it because it's related to the Mustang!? (Maybe I'm wrong...)
Templar 05-03-2005, 02:13 PM I want some... what does that say about me?
valthun 05-03-2005, 06:55 PM Eh, maybe if they made a Pitch Black polish. But thats because the black I find takes two coats to not look thin.
But that would match my Focus and that would be weird.
