well, i said i would buy either a ZTS or a ZX3, and i decided to go with the ZTS. It's a 2000, leather seats w/manual transmission. damn, i like it. i hope she treats me nice! the only prob is that the cruise control doesnt work. anybody know anything about that particular part? i'm going to do a search, so please dont write saying "search, [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]." anyways, just thought i'd let you know that i'm one of you guys now. [;)]
Hey congrats, glad you finally decided and welcome to the sedan club! [;)]

As for the Cruise control, are you following the button-pushing order correctly? In case you weren't sure (and sorry if you do know!) you push On the Set Accel when you're at the speed you want, then let off the gas. Holding Coast until you drop to the desired speed works for slowing down and pushing Set Accel again will increase your speed by about 1 mph each time.
If you hit the gas after it's OK, and when you stop accelerating the car will take over once it's back to the speed it was set to, and tapping the Brake kills CC until you hit Resume where the car will get back up to speed. Off obviously shuts it off completely.
If that stuff doesn't work I'd check the fuse for CC, or maybe something's wrong with the wiring.

i tried it many times, so i think it's just plum broke. the light (under RPMs) comes on as soon as i push the SET/ACC button (after pushing the ON button) but the speed just drops without grabbing. I had the luxury of driving 4 hours last night (had to drive that far just to get it) and not once did it work. I have posted a little more detail in this thread: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=528971#post528971
anyways, i might just buy a Chiltons and see if i can fix it myself.

Congrats on your purchase, I reciently became a focus owner myself. Good luck on a fix for your CC

Welcome to focus fanatics! Are you going to post some pictures??

did you check the cable where it connects to the throttle body? mine car did the same thing, the light would come on but no CC. the connector for the CC cable slipped off somehow.
05-02-2005, 12:19 AM
yes, that cable thing! it is off, but the cable is stretched out so far that it doesnt grab even if i put the black plastic piece back on. i am going to post some pictures soon, when i take some, but i want to wait until i get my system hooked up. i think that's what i'm most proud of...not many americans fancy the MDs, but i love them. bought the deck used from Japan so i got a great deal for it. the Japanese have this store where they have everything auto and it's all used, so it's a fair price for hard to find JDM stuff, including hundreds of decks. only prob is that it wont pick up radio waves, but who needs fm anyways, right?

MDs as in mini disc?

i used to have one in my car about a year and a half ago, and my brother still uses his portable one. i switched to mp3 cd's though, much cheaper then.

i love mine...it's got the kenwood dolphins, cars, sails, all that jazz. i used to have mp3 cds but i started to get annoyed when they kept getting scratched and took up too much space. MDs are pretty cheap for me, though...maybe not as cheap as CD, but better reliability. Plus, they never skip.

i got a cd changer that played mp3s, 1500-ish songs in one magazine. that ended the cd'ss and md's, laying around in my car.
back on the topic though, i'm not sure on how the cable is stretched. is the inside wire pulled way out of the outside piece?
05-02-2005, 12:59 PM
yes, the inside cable is stretched way out...it pokes out from the back of the black plastic piece when it is hooked up to the throttle. i think that's what's causing the cc to NOT grab, but i'm really not sure. i tried setting the cruise for like 2 minutes, just to see if it would grab, but it didnt. what do you guys think?
05-02-2005, 10:33 PM
can you get a pic of it?
