Just a few of the things everyone missed by not going to the SVTOA On-Track event at Sebring, FL last weekend...
One of the Ford GTs they were selling charity rides in:
Another GT and an AC Cobra owned by a Sebring area resident:

We didn't time it, it was my first time on a road track, so I'm sure it would've sucked... But I did get better with each lap and I had a blast! Most of the time I stayed behind a girl in another SVT Focus, feeling out the car and the track, but my instructor thought she was holding me back, so I passed her and ran my last hot lap and pushed the car pretty good. The last lap my buddy was watching and said I went into turn 1 with several cobra's on my tail, but as I went around turns 1 & 2 and then 3-5, I separated myself from them... The cobras always caught us Foci on the long straights, but when we really pushed through the corners, they couldn't keep up. One thing that surprised me was how many '05 Mustang GTs were there. I knew there would be some, but there was a very high percentage.
Just an estimate of what was on the track out of probably 100-125 cars total:
95-04 Cobra's 35%
05 Mustangs 25% (GTs, Steeda's & Saleen's)
Other Mustangs 25% (60's - early 90's and Steeda race cars)
Other 5% (SVT Contour, Mazdaspeed Protege, Mazda 3s, Jag S-type R, 300ZX (blew engine), a Grand Marquis (the lead instructor's), plus a few other oddballs)

oh my gosh, that looks like a dream to drive at. how often do they hold svtoa track days and where do they do them? were the other svt owners generally respectful of the econobox SVTs? [:D]

They have several events throughout the summer, check out the SVTOA Web Site (http://www.svtoa.com)
They were generally ok, as long as you let them pass when you got to the straights. I would have liked to be out there just with the Foci or at least with anything but Cobras so I wouldn't have to worry about who was breathing down my neck and when to wave them by.

Hey Phil, glad to see you decided to check out FF, Welcome!
Rachael (with the red SVT ZX3) said she was going to check out FF, but I haven't heard from her yet.
The girl in my first pic? You didn't see her? OMG, how could you miss her? I almost got one of her posing for a pic for her boyfriend in front of the GT, but I was a little late. She was tanning herself on the pit road wall at one point on Saturday, she had those short-shorts on and her shirt pulled up to just below her ( o )( o )'s, talk about distracting...
I am hoping to have some more pictures up when Michael sends me the ones he took. Maybe he got a decent video clip too. Sebring gave him the bug to get his gen2 MR2 back together again, he even bought some 'suspension goodies' as he called them. I guess this is so his car will handle almost as well as our SVTFs! [;)] After that, we are going to try and find a way to get out on our local road-course in Birmingham at Barber Motorsports Park. Its only a couple of years old, but they say it may be one of the best in the US and on par with the best in Europe... We think the BWM club that has events there will let us run, but have yet to check into it.
Once again, welcome to FF and enjoy!
