Ok so I called one of the local dealerships in town to see if I could get the reflash done on my svt. Well he said well we got to do a diagnostics and bla bla bla but for the diagnostics which I dont even need and the reflash is going to be $80. It sounded like a load of $h1t and I dont want to go get it done now cuz they will probably try to charge me more. I dont have my warranty no more so is this price correct or no? What do I say if I go to the dealership I want to know exactly what to say so I dont look like an idiot or fool.[?|] [???:)] [mad] [}:)]

that's pretty standard, they usually charge 1 hr labor for hooking up the diagnostic computers.

the reflash is to fix programming problems that are Ford's fault and it seems odd that you would be charged. call SVT customer service.

It doesn't hurt to call SVT and ask but I seriously doubt it will do any good. Ford won't see it the way you do from my experience. If you are out of warranty you will have to pay for all non-recall related work unless the service advisor is feeling very giving. The dealership won't get paid for the work if you are out of warranty, plain and simple. If something breaks after the warranty is over, even if it is a known issue, Ford doesn't have to fix it. Otherwise, they would be giving you a lifetime warranty basically. $80 is a lot cheaper than $375 for a custom tune which is really the only other option if you really need the reflash...

if i got a tune would it be the same as getting the reflash plus some more hp?

Better...You'd actually have someone to call if you had a problem with the tune! [thumb]

From what I have heard, yes, shaunq, the custom tune would be better than the Ford reflash and you would gain a good bit of midrange power. If you have the dough, just go that way, you won't be disapointed.

There's something in the Ford system called AWA (after warranty adjustment) If you're warranty ended recently, or for what ever reason the service adviser feels like using it, you can have stuff fixed outside of warranty for less than full price, or free. There's a limit on it by vehicle, something like 2 times max. I don't know much about it, since I had a very brief conversation with a service advisor, and this is what was said.

I'm thinking someone 1000 miles over warranty, 1 month out of warranty, or who buys a lot of cars from that dealer is going to have a much better chance of getting it, than someone off the street who asks for it. If you are willing to pay for it, it might not hurt to ask for it as PLAN A, with paying for it PLAN B.
